Gladys Holmes Miller Adkins Davis Peoria Journal Star, July 29, 1996
She was born Dec. 12, 1916, in Mason County to Dolly Holmes. She was adopted by David and Minnie Miller. She married Carroll Adkins on Dec. 12, 1951. She later married Robert Davis in 1956. He died Jan. 20, 1971. One son, Arlie Adkins, one sister, one brother and one granddaughter also preceded her in death. Surviving are four sons, Robert, Jody, Gary and Ray Adkins; three daughters, Judy Lynn, Roberta Gobel and Rosemary John; six sisters, Florence Williams, Frances DeFord, Delores Dye, Mazie Nunn, Marlene Searle and Maureen Trice; four brothers, Richard, Bobby, Larry and Jimmy Holmes; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Summum Christian Church in Summum. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bath Cemetery in Bath. Kevin Sager will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by Hurley Funeral Home, Havana. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Survivors: four sons, Robert, Jody, Gary and Ray Adkins; three daughters, Judy Lynn, Roberta Gobel and Rosemary John; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Florence Williams, Frances DeFord, Dolores Dye, Mazie Nunn, Marlene Searle and Maureen Trice; four brothers, Richard, Bobby, Larry and Jimmy Holmes. Graveside services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bath Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of arrangements.
