Joey Lee Long Peoria Journal Star, April 10, 2001, Page: B04 HAVANA - Services for Joey Lee Long, 17, of 580 S. Plum St. will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. He was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001. He drowned after trying to swim across the Illinois River between Mason and Fulton counties. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. He was born Nov. 29, 1983, in Canton to Phillip J. and Ginger Farwell Long. Surviving are his parents of Havana; his grandparents, Curt and Sharon Farwell and Janette Long, all of Havana, and Dean Farwell of Rushville; two brothers, Nick and Timothy, both of Havana; and one sister, Misty Long of Havana. He was a junior at Havana High School, where he was a member of the Spanish Club, was a peer facilitator and played basketball. He also ran cross country in junior high school. Memorials may be made to a basketball scholarship in his name at Havana High School.
