BATH - George Arlan Richardson, 73, of Bath, Ill., died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, at St. John's North in Springfield, Ill.

He was born July 16, 1932, in Mason County, the son of George W. and Florence M. Jones Richardson. He married Vera Lindsay on April 27, 1957, in Bath, and she survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Rick (Deanne) Richardson of Chandlerville, Ill., Brad (Beth) Richardson of Bath and Randy (Lori) Richardson of Deland, Fla. Eight grandchildren, Jason, Martin, Courtney, Megan, Clint, Julia, Joel and Jessica Richardson, also survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Marge Dooley and Evelyn Carlock, both of Bath; and five brothers, John of Jacksonville, Ern of Kilbourne, Larry "Chub" of Kewanee, Jim of Kilbourne and Mike of Easton, Ill. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Mr. Richardson was a career Navy man serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis, Korea and Vietnam. He spent 21 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in August of 1973.

He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and was an extra ham radio operator (KB9QNJ).

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Rev. Delbert Penrod. Burial will be in the Bath Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
