Verna Woodley

METAMORA - Verna M. Woodley, 85, of Metamora, formerly of 206 E. Meadow Lawn St., Manito, died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Pekin Hospital.

She was born Feb. 19, 1922, in Havana, the daughter of John and Wilhelmina (Uthmiller) Zeeck. She married Carl Woodley on Nov. 28, 1942, in Key West, Fla., and he survives.

She has two sons, Terry (Carol) Woodley of Eureka and Dennis (Joyce) Woodley of Woodlands, Texas. Also surviving is one sister, Frances (Warren) Kwasigroh and one brother, Grover (Freida) Zeeck, both of Pekin. She has four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

She was a hairdresser in the Manito community for more than 50 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Tabitha Society of the Church. She enjoyed quilting.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Al Majewski officiating. Internment will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery, Manito. Visitation will be Monday, June 18, at Maas Funeral Home, Manito, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church near Manito.
