The following statistics from the Adjutant General's office show the number of soldiers Illinois lost during the war of the rebellion:
Officers killed, 307,
Enlisted men killed, 5,453;
Officers died of wounds, 125;
Enlisted men, died of wounds, 2,890,
Men who died of disease, 19,035;
Officers lost at sea on the steamer General Lyon, 11;
Enlisted men at sea on the General Lyon, 189;
Total officers, 905;
Total enlisted men, 27,576.
In addition to these there were 867 deaths of Illinois officers and men in the Andersonville prison-pen-- making the grand total of deaths of Illinois soldiers during the war, 28,348.
