Community of Padua History

Dawson [Township] residents voted $30,000 in bonds to aid the Lake Erie in building through there. The stations of Ellsworth and Padua in this township were located on this road. ["Official souvenir program, McLean County Centennial, Aug. 27, 28, 30, 1930" by: McLean County Illinois Centennial Souvenir Program Committee, Harold Lang and Eugene Funk] Only other community of Dawson Township is the small hamlet of Padua, with a population of eighteen. It is served by the postoffice at nearby Ellsworth. The hamlet is located on the New York, Chicago & St. Louis Railroad.
