2 Raisin Pies
Jennie Catherine Harm Moncelle
Lexington
McLean County, Illinois
(Transcribed by: Teri Moncelle Colglazier)
|
1 cup sugar
Cook filling a short while, cool and pour into un-baked pie crust.
(Jennie's Note: I usually bring filling to a boil or almost and take off stove as longer cooking makes the raisins strong tasting after the pies are baked, I think) (Transcriber Notes: This was apparently a huge hit in the Moncelle household as all the daughters had this recipe in their recipe boxes and I know my Dad loved raisin pie with a passion.) Jennie was born 8 Oct 1890 in Cruger, Woodford County, Illinois to Bernherd "Ben" Henry & Flora W. Reinholtz Harms, the oldest of eight children. She married Charles LeRoy "Roy" Moncelle (son of Charles and Emma Grove Moncelle) on 5 Feb 1913 in Pontiac, Illinois. They settled in Lawndale Township (section 8), McLean County, Illinois and raised seven children. They moved to Fairbury, Livingston County, Illinois after Roy retired from farming in the mid 1960's. Jennie passed away on 15 Aug 1970. [Moncelle Family Records] |
