SHRADER-SMITH
Miss Marjorie Smith became the bride of Wesley Shrader Wednesday evening, Dec. 20, 1905, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Smith in Polo. Nearly a hundred guests had congregated to celebrate the happy event. The rooms had been transformed by the beautiful decorations, the colors used being green and red. In the parlors the lace curtains were covered with holly and the walls were almost hidden with branches and wreaths of the same. Red paper bells suspended in the doorways and a large bouquet of red carnations completed the beautiful effect. At seven o'clock Miss Bertha Todd of Milledgeville began playing Lohengrin's Bridal Chorus and four young friends of the bride, Misses Edith Carpenter, Ilene Huggans, Elsie Rowand and Grace Tice stretched white ribbons to form an aisle for the bridal party which proceeded through the sitting room and hall to the parlor. Rev. C. K. Carpenter, the officiating minister, entered the parlor followed by Miss Hattie Merriam, the bridesmaid who was gowned in pink organdie and carried pink carnations. The bride, beautiful in a gown of white organdie, carrying white roses came next on the arm of her father and lastly came the groom and his attendant, Clifford F. Smith, brother of the bride. They took their places i front of a bank of ferns and daisies, under a beautiful holly-covered bell from the center of which was suspended a beautiful white rose and while MIss Todd continued to play softly Rev. Carpenter spoke the solemn words. Congratulations were showered upon the happy bride and groom while MIss Todd played Greig's Norwegian Bridal Procession. The guests were then invited to the dining room which was adorned with strands of red and green crepe paper festooned from a large bell in the center of the ceiling to the corners and sides of the room. A dainty, yet substantial three course supper was served, the four ribbon bearers doing the serving, assisted by Misses Jessie and Ida Walker, Zula Bittinger and Esther Pettitt. Each guest on leaving the dining room was presented with a pretty bouquet by Misses Mary Ruth and Nelle Keator. Mr. and Mrs. Shrader received many handsome and useful wedding gifts. They went to Chicago, Thursday morning where they spent a few days. They will be at home to their friends after January 15, on the farm of the Groom's father northeast of Polo. Mr. and Mrs. Shrader are young people who have the sincere regard of all their acquaintances. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar P. Smith. She spent her childhood days in Milledgeville coming to Polo with her parents a few years ago. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Shrader and is an industrious young man of sterling character. Both are earnest workers in the Methodist church. All who know them unite in wishing them a long life of happiness and usefulness in the church and the community in which they live.
