First Catholic Cemetery in Peoria County
1839
Lazarist Missionaries maintained a mission in the building now persevered as
St. Patrick's Church, which is adjacent to the old cemetery.
The place was ordered built and the order of the authority signed by Bishop of
the Irish people, Aug. 4, 1839.

In the West side of this cemetery may be seen a beautiful Grotto that beauty and reverence to this sacred ground more than a century old.
