Old Du Quoin School Reunion Brings
Together Books, Pictures Dating To 1884
The names and faces of Old Du Quoin, which were the beginnings of Du Quoin as we know it, emerged last weekend during a reunion of students of the Old Du Quoin School. It was the first reunion of the Old Du Quoin School, a tiny wood framed structure that dates back to the fourth quarter of the 1800's.

The reunion was held at the ome of Roberta and John Boyett in Old Du Quoin. The door prize was won by Ida Ruth Anderson, also the student with the most children, Myrtle Rackley Beard, who taught in 1919 and 1920 was the oldest person present. Ida Shook Davison was the oldest student and Roberta Boyett was the youngest student present, being the last first gradse student to attend the school, later consolidated in 1949.

Some brought their eighth grade diplomas, autograph books, family pictures and "oh yes do you remember" was heard quite often. Three generations of books were on display, those being held by Robert S. Shook which dated back to when he attended school from 1884 to 1892.
