William Evans, farmer and stock raiser, sec. 21; P.O. Eldara; was born near Winchester IL April 6, 1832 and is a son of Richard and Annie Evans, dec.; natives of Kentucky. The subject of this notice was once offered the use of a large tract of land where Jacksonville now stands, in exchange for a horse. He came to this county about 1850 and soon afterward went to CA, overland, where he remained 8 years; he then returned to this county. Nov. 30, 1863, he married Miss Mary A Strubinger, daughter of Joseph Strubinger, dec., and early settler of this county. They have had 5 children, namely, Anna M., Joseph M., Frank W., Hattie M. and Nina. Mr. Evans owns 198 acres of land here, and 160 acres in Platt County MO.
