BIOGRAPHIES Pike County IL
John A Hoover, sec. 18; P. O. Milton; is the son of John Hoover, one of the pioneers of this county who settled
in Montezuma tp. In 1829, where the subject of this sketch was born in 1834. In 1859 he engaged as clerk in the
mercantile trade at Milton, in which capacity he was engaged until 1871. Since then he has been engaged in
farming and speculation, and by tract and energy has secured a good property. Mr. H. is one of this extensive
family, unmarried, but his social qualities of mind and heart have won for him a host of friends.
