GOOBIES BAR

Some family businesses become so after many years of being in existence, but for "Goobies" in New Canton, it was born out of family and extended friends, which Nan Megehe lovingly refers to all as, "family." The whole idea of "Goobies," a very nice, all new bar, began a year ago when Johnny ... John Robert & Nan Megehe's son ... turned 21. And, what started as a joke, became a reality. You can't miss it, located on Hwy. 96 in New Canton, what some would refer to as the former Fisher Grocery Store or Karmon's Dance Academy, and can be spotted easily, just by looking for the beautiful logs on the exterior. Not only does the exterior welcome you, the friendly faces and beautiful wooden bar makes you feel right at home instantly. The love that has been poured into the building and business, can be felt by all who enter. "Bob Cohneur and Brandon "Beaver" Smith helped so very much. And, Kevin Prather from New London, built our bar. We paid for the materials and they have done the work," said Nan.

The bar opened this past weekend with Antidote playing Saturday evening. The real grand opening and celebration will be when Nan's husband, John Robert, is well and able to be there, too. John Robert has a lot of dreams and plans on seeing them through. He is fighting cancer. (See benefit on page 8). A sound machine and lights will always be part of the entertainment, and bands will be booked several times a month. "All designated drivers will receive free soda and chips," added Nan.

Carmen Megehe, Tayleigh Megehe, Johnny Megehe, Randi Sigler, and Angie Raftery can fix your favorite drink and wait on you. "For now we will be open Friday, Saturday and Sundays," added Nan. Want to go to a very clean, great ambience place.. a place where you can sit and relax, talk with friends, and maybe shot some pool? Then Goobies is it!!
