James M. Witty bought the southwest quarter of section 31 in Hardin Twp. from the heirs of the A.L. Galloway estate. This 160 acre tract was originally enered by the late Austin Barber and sold by his heirs to Galloway in 1895 for $4,000. Now the Galloway heirs have sold it to Witty for $8,650, an increase of over 110 percent in 11 years.
