The society was organized in 1845 and the church
was built during the pastorate of Rev. David Hubbard in 1852.



E.M. Reed
Born and raised in Curtis KY. Came to Pleasant Hill in
1904 and succeeded J. W. Burbridge in the Restaurant business.
Mr. Reed has been very successful in feeding the hungry.

R. A. Shive
Came to Pleasant Hill from Curtis KY in 1902 and
started in the General Produce business in 1904. The business has
grown to enormous proportions under the management of Mr. Shive.

Dr. H.D. Fortune

A native Missourian was born near
Paynesville, Pike County. Was raised on the farm and
at the age of 18 years began the study of medicine.
Enlisted in the Confederate Army June 17th, 1861.
Graduated from the St Louis Medical College
March 5th, 1865. Moved to Pleasant Hill, IL in
August 1874, where he has continuously
engaged in his chosen profession.










Dr. H. Claude Fortune

Graduated from the Medical Department
of St Louis University, May 8th 1905.

Engaged in the practice of medicine
in partnership with his father.










G. T. WINDMILLER
Succeeded his brother W.A. Windmiller in the General Merchandise Business
Dec. 1, 1904 after ten years experience with him as clerk.
