The 'local' camp for our area was about a mile north of New Canton on the highway, west side. Had many one story barracks. Don't know when they were torn down, but remember them. These single guys worked on parks, maybe some levee's, etc, like I said built the water system for Kinderhook. Then the war came along and they were probably all ended up in the army. Not sure about that."
