Velma (CLARK) Edging

Velma (CLARK) Edging, 89, of Mound City, formerly of Cairo, died at 2 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 1999 at her family residence in Mound City.

Mrs. Edging was born January 20, 1910 in Bardwell, KY. and moved to Cairo where she resided for many years, and later resided in Mound City. She was the daughter of the late John Clark and Zora (HARPER) Clark. Mrs. Edging was a member of the First Baptist Church in the Mound City and was a retired Senior Companion Sitter for 12 years with Shawnee Development in Pulaski/ Alexander Counties.

Mrs. Edging was preceded in death by her husband, Other W. Edging, a daughter Maxine Halbrook; a son Wayne Edging; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include one son, Howard Edging and his wife, Juanita of Mound City; one daughter, Janace Grosbach and her husband, Peter of Richmond, Va., one brother, Jack Clark of Caseyville; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and one great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She is mourned by many friends and family.

Funeral services for Velma Edging were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 13, at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.

Interment followed in the Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds. Friends called between 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
