Winfred Thurman "Slim" Harvick

Winfred Thurman "Slim" Harvick, 87, of Mounds, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, at 10:38p.m. at his home.

He was born on Aug. 3, 1916, in Union County, the son of Thurman Lee and Iva (KARRAKER) Harvick.

He married Oma Ann Youngblood on April 8, 1935, in Lebanon, Tenn. She preceded him in death on Sept. 4, 1998. He and Marie (KARRAKER) Henshaw were married on March 18, 2000.

Mr. Harvick was a general contractor and served one term as a Pulaski County commissioner. He was a member of the Cairo Church of Christ and served as an elder for the many years.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Harvick, of Mounds; three daughter, Joann Moreland of Dongola, Sue Orson of Penn valley, Calif., and Linda Hubbard and husband Robert of Knoxville, Tenn.; three stepchildren, Pamela Austin of Atlanta, Ga., Greg Henshaw of Memphis and Jeff Henshaw of Paducah; his sister, Linna Mae (LOREN) Eddleman and brother, Harvalee (Ann) Harvick, all of Anna; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and other relatives.

He was also preceded in death by an infant brother and one sister.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mounds Church of Christ with Jim Phillips officiating. Interment followed in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.

Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds was in charge of arrangements.
