Harley McKee

 Harley S. McKee, 68, of Cairo died Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Olive Branch, Ill., son of Clarence and Mary E. Bedwell McKee Sr. He and Virginia Mayberry were married Jan. 28, 1987.

He owned and operated McKee Sanitation Co. in Brighton, Ill.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Debra Hazelwood of Tamms, Ill., Karen Tatum of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., Cynthia McKee-Ditterline of Cypress, Ill.; two sons, David McKee Sr. of Dongola, Ill., Kevin McKee Sr. of Karnak, Ill.; three stepdaughters, Linda Hodges of Cairo, Lora Ferrin of Eugene, Ore., and Nancy Hinman of Dyersburg, Tenn.

Also surviving are three brothers, Orville McKee of Edwardsville, Ill., Todd McKee of Brighton, Allen McKee of Shipman, Ill.; a sister, Lena Rocky of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and eight great-step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter and 17 brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Don Heady officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski, Ill., with military rites by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455.
