Mr. Prim was born on May 3, 1916, in Mounds, the son of the late John Prim and Gertrude (Williams) Prim. Mr. Prim was a printer. He had lived 50 years and moved to Poplar Bluff in 1972, where he resided until his death Sunday evening. Mr. Prim was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mounds. He married Dorothy Wilson on Jan. 28, 1935, in Mounds. Mr. Prim was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Prim, on July 24, 1991; one son, Harold E. Prim, in 1997; one infant son; one brother, Von Prim; and three sisters, Lucille Calvin, Gwendolyn McClure and Gladys Slaughter. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sandy Prim of Mounds; her companion and close friend, Phyllis Cookson of Broseley; one sister, Maxine Crippen of Gilbert, Ariz.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Services for Johnie Harold Prim will be at 1:30 p.m. today in the Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Interment will follow in the Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds. A brief visitation will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with a graveside service to follow. At the request of the family, expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the First Baptist Church in Mounds or to the Mounds Library in memory of Mr. Prim.
