Orval Pecord

 Orval Eugene "Gene" Pecord, 81, of Miller City died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Day Star Care Center in Cairo, Ill.

He was born Jan. 2, 1923, in Miller City, son of Milton and Mary Lena Hornberger Pecord. He and Beverly "Bunny" Becker were married July 6, 1943.

He worked at Two Rivers Oil, then retired as superintendent of Alexander County Water District. He operated Gene Pecord Hunting Club 50 years. He was a member of Lake Milligan Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Clinton Pecord of Union, Mo., Billy Pecord of Thebes, Ill.; two daughters, Becky Cantrell of Advance, Mo., Amy McClarney of Thebes; a brother, Milton Pecord of Olive Branch, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Verlee Eaker officiating. Burial will be in Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
