Frieda Louise Rife
Frieda Louise Rife, 95, of Pulaski, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Jan. 1, 1909, at Mound City, the daughter of Chester and Pauline (WIESKER) Mitchell. She was married to Theodore R. "Ted" Rife, and he preceded her in death May 22, 1982. Mrs. Rife was retired from the state of Illinois after 32 years as a caseworker for the Department of Human Services and Employment Security. She was a 50-year member of Caledonia Chapter 587 Order of the Eastern Star, a 50-year member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Mounds, member of the Mounds BPW and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ullin. Survivors include her daughter, Louise and husband, Fred Allen, of Pulaski; granddaughter, Vonda and husband, Dave Dexter, of Ullin; two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Courtney Dexter; step daughter-in-law, Audrey Rife; two step-grandchildren, Wayne and wife, Masako Rife, and Charlene and husband, Richard Bennett; four great-step-grandchildren, Cheryl and Christy Bennett, Monique Rife and Melanie and husband, Rob Trumble; two great-great-step-grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Trumble; and nieces and other relatives. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Charles E. Rife in 1979; a sister, Mary Doxey, and a brother, Daniel Mitchell. Services for Frieda Louise Rife will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 19 at the Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with the Rev. John Windings officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Ullin. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Ullin. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
