Eddie E. Sheffer of Cairo died at Cape LaCroix Manor in Cape Girardeau, MO Monday (July 5, 1976).  He was 85 years old.  

Born June 29, 1891, Mr. Sheffer was married to Bessie Mae Provo, who preceded him in death on March 26, 1962. 

 Mr. Sheffer was a retired school teacher.  He had taught for 41 years and was a member of the Elco Pentecostal Church, Elco, IL.

Surviving:  Sons, Herman Sheffer, Olive Branch, Harold Sheffer, Cairo; one daughter, Mildred Newell, Ullin; one brother, E. L. Sheffer, Tamms; two sisters, Vida Murphy and Helen Sanders, both of Granite City; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. 

 Farnsworth Funeral Home, Tamms in charge of arrangements.  Service will be at 1:00 Wednesday at the Elco Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Robert Burchett of Cairo officiating.  Burial in the Green Lawn Cemetery near Mounds.  Pallbearers were grandsons, Billy, Roger, and Steve Sheffer and James, David and Michael Newell.
