Freda L. Shafer

Freda L. Shafer, age 89, of Marion, IL. formerly of Olmsted, Il, died at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004 at the Heartland Hospital in Marion, IL.

Mrs. Shafer was born February 14, 1914 at Olmsted, IL, daughter of the late William Sauerbrunn and Laura Ida (Duerckheimer) Sauerbrunn.

Mrs. Shafer was a member of the St. Luke's Lutheran Church of Olmsted and a member of the Ladies Aide, and was a housewife and homemaker.

Mrs. Shafer was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Shafer, and 6 brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Wanda Troester, Marion, IL; a son and daughter-in-law, Clyde Shafer and Patricia "Trish" Shafer of Metropolis, IL; a sister, Wilma Bailey, of Galesburg, IL; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Freda L. Shafer will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at the St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Olmsted, Il. with the Rev. Carl Miller and Rev. Bill Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery, rural west of Olmsted, Il. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home, Villa Ridge, and after 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church, Wednesday.
