Eunice Ward

Eunice Jenkins Ward, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born June 22, 1907, in Belknap, Ill., daughter of Charles D. and Pearl Bertha Richards Train. She and J. Hobart Jenkins were married May 8, 1927, in Mounds, Ill. He died June 5, 1952. She and Harold Ward were married Sept. 19, 1973, in Carbondale, Ill. He died Feb. 7, 1983.

Ward received a licensed practical nursing certificate from VTI School of Nursing. She had worked at Holden Hospital and Doctors Hospital in Carbondale. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Frank Linn of Cape Girardeau; a son and daughter-in-law, James H. and Jeanne Jenkins of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Ullin City Cemetery in Ullin, Ill. The Rev. John Annable will officiate.

Friends may call at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
