Gussella S. Walston, 88, of Cairo died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Cairo, daughter of Gilbert R. and Alice Hulen Swoboda. She married Carlos J. Walston, who died in 1993.

She was a partner with Gilbert R. Swoboda and Co. in Cairo. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the LutherAnns.

Survivors include two sisters, Marie McRoy of Cairo, Alice Johnson of Vicksburg, Miss.; and a brother, Gilbert Swoboda Jr. of Cairo.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 11 a.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Richard Keplinger officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
