Vada L. Young, 90, of Cairo died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Carle Arbours Nursing Home in Champaign, Ill.

She was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Cairo, daughter of Peter J. and Mary Sutherland Kessler. She married Clifford Young, who died in 1995.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Donald Turner of Cairo; a daughter, Carolyn O'Rourke of Urbana, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Graveside service will be at noon Saturday at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Ill. Richard Keplinger will officiate.
