December 27, 1883
Henry Republican
Married at the residence of the bride's parents at Magnolia, Wednesday evening, Dec. 19, 1883, Mr. James R. Mitchell, and Fannie, second daughter of our esteemed citizen L. C. Morrill. At an early hour the invited guests from the village, surrounding country, and distant towns began to assemble. The parlor where the marriage ceremony took place was beautifully decked in evergreen, while the walls of the remaining portion of the spacious dwelling were tastily hung with elegant pictures, mottoes, bouquets, etc.

At precisely seven o'clock the contracting parties made their appearance under the "wedding bell' when in the presence of fully 60 guests, Rev. Merile, the M. E. minister, in a very neat well chosen ceremony, pronounced them husband and wife. After congratulations supper was immediately and systematically served, a supper which only such cooks as Mrs. Morrill know how to prepare.

The bride was becomingly dressed in brown silk, with white gloves. The groom was attired in black with light tie and gloves. James R. is the oldest son of our worthy townsman S. B. Mitchell. A young man of character, sociable, energetic and has a bright future before him. Miss Fannie is a young lady of fine mind, good education, and undoubtedly knows how to make home pleasant. The happy couple commended housekeeping the day following in a neat cottage which has previously been arranged for their occupancy.
