Dowingville was layed out on 20 Mar 1837 for Edward Menard, William Bruster, Miles Gilbert and Hiram Miles. But where was it??
Laurel Hill first had a post office est under the name of Texas in 1850 but it was changed to Laurel Hill in 1857 but closed in 1859. One possible location is Sec 22 of T5 R5 where a L Hill lived.
Saint Xavier was the summer village of Roenze, Chief of the Kaskaskia Indians. There also may have been a church there. Located some where near the mouth of the Kaskaskia River.
