Pioneer Cemetery

Spring of 2008 - Most of the headstones are gone.
John Long, hanged for the murder
of Colonel Davenport, was not buried until Sept. 14, 1978
He was buried in the Pioneer Cemetery - Which is located at the Black Hawk State
Park.
[On July 4, 1845, Colonel Davenport was murdered in his home by a gang of
outlaws known as the Prairie Bandits.]
