MOUNT STERLING - Myrna Darlene Nelson, 67, of Mount Sterling
died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mount
Sterling.
She was born Dec. 13, 1938, in Brown County, the daughter of
Joshua and Mabel Bunfill Sorrells. She married Glen Nelson in 1955 in
Mount Sterling; he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nelson was an executive assistant for Dot Foods in Mount
Sterling for more than 30 years. She served as vice president of the
Parents Teacher Association and was a member of First Baptist Church in
Mount Sterling, where she was a deaconess and a member of the Women's
Mission Society.
Survivors: two daughters, Patty Parn of Mount Sterling and Susan
(husband, Doug) Wilson of Versailles; two granddaughters; two sisters,
Mary Pruden of Mount Sterling and Eleanor Crosier of Rushville; and
several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Hendricker Funeral Home, Mount
Sterling, the Rev. Aaron Foster officiating. Burial: Hersman Cemetery,
south of Mount Sterling.

PEKIN - Wilbur C. Newell, 59, of 1507 Caroline died at 5 a.m.
Tuesday, July 7, 1992, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born May 4, 1933, in Elliott to Frank and Bessie Norris Newell, he married Carol Kinsey on Dec. 22, 1963, in Mackinaw.
She survives, along with three sons, Kevin D. and Keith C., both
of Pekin and Kenneth S. of Granite City; one daughter, Kathleen Pierce
of Yates City; two brothers, E. Wayne of Deer Creek and Nathan E. of
Lexington; three sisters, Mrs. Ronald "Bill" (Luella) Walty of Pekin,
Mrs. Louis (Leota) Trapasso of Niagra Falls, N.Y., and Mrs. Ralph
(Irene) Hill of Upland, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. Two sisters
and one brother preceded him in death.
He was a millwright at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria for 28
years, last working in 1991. An Army veteran, he was a member of United
Auto Workers Union Local 974. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Paul Balaban will
officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral
home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.

BEARDSTOWN - Edward Robert Norton, 66, of Beardstown died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at his home.
He was born July 14, 1937, in Beardstown, the son of Cecil
Sylvester and Edna Margaret Lucas Norton. He married Betty Ann
Bollinger in 1956.
Mr. Norton was a custodian at Schmidt Memorial Hospital, Bohn
Aluminum and a laundry, all in Beardstown. He formerly attended Church
of the Nazarene in Beardstown.
Survivors: wife, Betty Ann; two sons, Robert E. (companion,
Sherrile Miller) and Michael Edward Norton, both of Beardstown; three
daughters, Carol Sue Norton (companion, Doug Hammack) of Arenzville,
Sue Ann Norton (companion, Carl Myslinski) of Ripley and Kelly Sue
(husband, Robert Eugene) Henson of Beardstown; seven grandchildren; and
a sister, Jeannette Bernice (husband, Richard David) Stambaugh of
Astoria.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Goodwin Funeral Home, Beardstown. Burial: Browning Cemetery.

Henry Norvell, living two miles east of here, took suddenly sick
on last Saturday night and died early Sunday morning. He was 25
years of age and not married.

MOUNT STERLING - Donald H. O'Malley, 62, of 306 W. South St.,
died at 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 1992, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
Born April 15, 1930, in Chicago to William and Margaret Classen
O'Malley, he married Dolores Alcorn on May 13, 1980, in Mount Sterling.
She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Margaret Kohler of Stickney; two
sons, Jim of Worthington, Ind., and Joe of Houston; twin daughters
Jerri Pursley of Paw Paw, Mich., and Janet O'Malley of Rushville; two
stepdaughters, Merry Lynn Hill and Joy Reische, both of Mount Sterling;
one brother, Bob of Chicago; three sisters, Pat Korechgen of Kahoka,
Mo., Marge Strausbaugh of Cuba and Katherine Horvack of Stickney; and
three grandchildren. His father and stepparents preceded him in death.
He served in the Navy from 1947 to 1967 and later worked as a
truck driver, retiring in 1980. He was a member of Schuyler American
Legion Post 4. Military services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at
Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville by American Legion Post 4.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

ASTORIA - Dwayne L. Orwig, 68, of 213 W. Church St. died at 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at his home.
Born March 21, 1929, in Cuba to Henry D. and Myrl LeMasters
Orwig, he married Marilyn Bollinger on Jan. 30, 1956, in Springfield.
She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rose McCurdy of Vermont and
Sue Anne Stoneking of Green Valley; two sons, Daniel of Havana and Jon
of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Rita Hamm of Marathon, Fla., and
Linda McCombs of Astoria; five grandchildren; and one
stepgranddaughter. One sister preceded him in death.
He was a farmer in Astoria and also worked in mine construction.
He retired in 1985. He was a member of Astoria Church of Christ and the
United Mine Workers of America.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at his church. Collis Trone
and Gary Sheets will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria. Burial will be in Browning
Cemetery, Browning.
Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad or McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.

MACOMB - Milton I. Osborn, 89, of Macomb died at 5:55 p.m.
Thursday, July 8, 1993, at Colchester Nursing Center in Colchester.
Born June 3, 1904, in Monroe City, Mo., to Henry C. and Lela
Butcher Osborn, he married Janice Grisham on April 23, 1967, in Macomb.
She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Marcia Hall of Macomb and
Janice L. Osborn of Peoria; one sister, Zula Greenup of Galesburg; and
three grandchildren. One son, David, two brothers and two sisters
preceded him in death.
He worked at Bader's Grain Elevator.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery
in Macomb. Matt Hunt will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11
a.m. Monday at Dodsworth-Piper- Wallen Funeral Home in Macomb.

Rushville - Mrs. Minnie Mae Osborn, 71, of Beardstown formerly
of Rushville, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in Culbertson Memorial
Hospital, Rushville, where she was admitted one hour previously.
She was born May 8, 1894, in Schuyler County, a daughter of
Joseph and Nancy Skiles Thompson. She was married to Grover Umphryes
Dec. 24, 1910, and he died July 9, 1961. On Sept. 19, 1964, she was
married to Harry Osborn in Beardstown.
He survives along with six: sons, Orval, Everett, Lee and
Dawson, all of Rushville, Junior of Griffith, Ind., and Burton Osborn
of Ripley; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Davis of Canton, Mrs. Ellen Irwin
of Cedar Lake, Ind., Mrs. Irene Brubeck of Pekin, and Mrs. Patricia
Laviolette of Griffith, Ind.; one step son, Harley Osborn of Rock
Falls; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Leminkul and Mrs. Dorothy Jackson,
both of Beardstown. Mrs. Hazel Looker of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Joan
Mallicoat of Peoria; 34 grandchildren: 13 step-grandchildren; several
great grandchildren: two brothers, George Thompson of Rushville, and
Frank Thompson of Astoria; one sister, Mrs. Annie Wilson of San
Bernardino, California; two half-brothers, Ivan Thompson of Rushville
and John Thompson of Macomb.
Services will beat 2 p.m. tomorrow in Roby Funeral Chapel,
Rushville, with burial in Good Hope Cemetery, northeast of Rushville.
Visitation will be after 7 p.m. today at the funeral chapel. She was a
member of Union Baptist Church of Rushville.

Daniel W. Owen, 74, of 2521 Holmes Ave. died at 5:20 p.m. Monday at St. John's Hospital.
Mr. Owen was born in Schuyler County on July 9, 1911, the son of
John N. and Sarah Stoneking Owen. Mr. Owen was formerly of Mount
Sterling.
He married Ellen L. Frye in 1943 and she preceded him in death
in 1971. He also was preceded in death by five sisters, including a
twin sister, Lydia L. James.
A resident of Springfield for many years Mr. Owen was a retired
painting contractor and was last employed by Custom Construction Co.
He was a member of South Side Christian Church.
Surviving are one son, John R. of Chicago; four daughters,
Gloria J. Owen, Mrs. Thomas (Linda K.) Perry and Mrs. F. Stephen
(Phyllis) Warren, all of Springfield, and Mrs. Thomas (Nancy) Finn of
Chatham; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Goodwin of Mount Sterling and Mrs.
Helen "Peg" Abromaitis of Morton; one granddaughter; eight grandsons;
and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev. Robert Green officiating.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in City Cemetery at Mount Sterling.

Roebten Giles, she married James D. Park Sr. on July 14, 1968, in
Rushville. He died Sept. 20, 1990. Two sisters also preceded her in
death.
Surviving are six daughters, Susan Thomas of Houston, Mrs.
Michael (Debra) Stambaugh and Mrs. Todd (Paula) Zaborac, both of
Canton, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Hubbard of Peoria, Mrs. Tom (Linda) Smith
of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Mrs. Steven (Brenda) McCoy of Yates City;
two sons, James D. Jr. of Peoria and Michael J. of San Antonio, Texas;

She worked in the dietary department at Bel-Wood Nursing Home.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville,
Rushville Women's Federation, and volunteered for the Spoon River
Literacy Program.

p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2005, in the emergency room at Culbertson
Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Feb. 4, 1949, in Pekin to Frederick E. and Jacqlyn Lighter Parker.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Tammy) Bollinger of
Astoria; one son, Gerald Jr. of Browning; two sisters, Mrs. David
(Joyce) McCloud of Baudette, Minn., and Laura Wheatcraft of Pekin; and
two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A member of United Auto Workers Local 974, he worked for
Caterpillar Inc. in Delavan, retiring in 2001. He then worked for
Armadillo Express in South Pekin until his death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in
Astoria, where visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Cliff Parry
will officiate. Burial will be in South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria.

She was a member of Bader Christian Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Summum Christian Church

will be in Summum Cemetery.

Ina I. Parr, 76, of Astoria died at 4:45 p.m. Monday at Riverside Medical Center, Kankakee.
She was born Oct. 6, 1915, in Fulton County, the daughter of
Edward and Pearl Thomas Shawgo. She married Wayne Parr in 1934 in
Keokuk, Iowa. He died in 1983.
Also preceding her in death were a brother and a sister.
Mrs. Parr was a member of Bader Christian Church.
Surviving are two sons, James of Bradley and Larry of
Springfield; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three
sisters, Tessie Danner of DuQuoin, Lela Landis of Canton and Rita
Gorsuch of Astoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Summum Christian Church,
with the Revs. Collis Trone and Steve Castaneda officiating. Burial

RUSHVILLE - Harley "Parsie" Parsano Jr., 66, of Rushville died at 3 a.m. Friday, March 5, 1993, at his home.
Born May 6, 1926, in Schuyler County to Harley B. and Ada
Chockley Parsano, he married Pauline Bowman on Sept. 23, 1946, in
Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Larry (Sue) Trone, Mrs.
Stan (Sharon) Gossage, Mrs. Rick (Sandy) Prather and Mrs. Jim (Sally)
Toland, and two brothers, George and Ted, all of Rushville; three
sisters, Mrs. Charles (Frances) Young of Rushville, Mrs. Harold (Ida
Mae) Anderson of Peoria and Mrs. Cecil (Jenny) Emery of Moline; 11
grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. A daughter, Rhonda Parsano, and
one sister preceded him in death.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was manager of Ayerco Service Station for 19 years, retiring
in 1989. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4, Scripps
Park Board and was a charter member of Rushville Lions Club.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rushville City
Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Schuyler American
Legion. The Rev. Michael Cooper will officiate. Visitation will be from
6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel.

ROSEVILLE - Dorothy L. Parsons, 78, of Roseville died at 10:50
p.m. Friday, March 18, 1994, at Henderson County Retirement Center in
Stronghurst.
Born Sept. 20, 1915, in Point Pleasant Township, Warren County,
to Harry A. and Inez Trone Strickler, she married Rollin H. Parsons on
Oct. 21, 1932, in Warren County. He died April 8, 1973. Two sisters,
one in infancy, and one grandson also preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Harold S. of Alexis; one daughter, Marie
H. Taylor of Roseville; one brother, Clyde Strickler of St. George,
Utah; two sisters, Eva P. Holloway of Alexis and Ruth Wagoner of Green
Forest, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three
great-great-grandchildren.
She worked at Galesburg State Research Hospital in Galesburg for
18 years. She then worked at F.W. Woolworth's in Monmouth for 16 years.
She was a member of Swan Creek Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Point Pleasant
Cemetery in rural Roseville. The Rev. Tom Mehaffy will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon today until 10 a.m. Monday at Corman
Memorial Home in Roseville.

Dean Payne, 83, of Monmouth, died at 7:50 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, in Pinewood Nursing Home at Monmouth.
He was born on Sept. 19, 1916, at Industry to Marvin and Estel
Mae Dean Payne. He married Bernice Alden on Jan. 31, 1947, at Decatur.
She preceded him in death on June 30, 1992.
He also was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include daughters Sandra Porter of Monmouth and
Bridgit Schaumleffel of Spring Valley; son Chris Payne of Mesa, Ariz.;
five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers George of Industry,
Gerald of Adair, and Verl of rural Industry.
Mr. Payne was a graduate of Western Illinois University. He also served in the Army during WW II.
He was a farmer in Industry until 1965 and moved to Charleston
in 1971, where he owned and operated the Charleston True Value Hardware
store until 1983. In 1987, he moved to Monmouth.
He was a member of the Industry Masonic Lodge, Charleston Rotary
Club, and Charleston VFW. He also was an avid environmentalist and
lover of nature who enjoyed reading and writing.
Cremation rites were accorded and graveside services were held
Sept. 24 in Industry Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Sawyer officiating.
Full military services were conducted by the Macomb Legion and VFW.
Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Audubon Society.

Ave. died at 11:37 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at her residence.
Born Oct. 30, 1927, in Rushville to William Austin and Annabell
Campbell Croxton, she married Robert Dale Peacock on May 8, 1948, in
Rushville. He survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Carolyn ''Sue'' McWethy and
Diana (and Jimmy) Gilmore, both of Peoria, and Rebecca ''Becky'' Stamm
of Washington; three sons, Robert (and Brenda), David and Larry
''Joe,'' all of Creve Coeur; one brother, James (and Jan) Croxton of
Peoria; one sister, Roberta (and Robert) Marquis of Rushville; 17
grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffery, in 1991; and one sister.
She worked for RB Poultry in Peoria for 14 years, retiring in December 1974.
She was a member of the Tri-County Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral
Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, where visitation will be two hours before.
Sam Amick will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m.
Thursday at Rushville City Cemetery in Rushville.

Dale B. Peak, 85, of Macomb, formerly of the Canton and Industry
areas, died at 6:04 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2001, at McDonough District
Hospital.
He was born in Schuyler County on Jan. 21, 1916, to Fred Roscoe
and Sylvia Ann Wilhelm Peak. He married Helen L. Martin in St.
Charles, Mo., on March 16, 1940. She survives.
He is also survived by: two sons, Michael (Nancy) Peak,
Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Kenneth Peak, Canton; five grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers in infancy.
He lived in the Industry area before moving to Canton in 1949
where he served as city councilman for eight years, from 1971 to 1979.
He worked for All Star and Prairie Farms Dairy for 20 years, retiring
in 1981. He moved to Macomb in 1996.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 21, 2001, at Greenwood
Cemetery in Canton, with the Rev. Loren Curtis officiating.
Memorials may be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.

Mr. Pendergraft was born April 25, 1901, in Beardstown, Il, the
son of Samuel William and Harriet Tucker Pendergraft. His marriage to
Lela Crafton took place at Havana, Il on July 2, 1930. Surviving are
his wife, two daughters, Charlene and Barbara Pendergraft of Pekin, Il,
a brother John Pendergraft, Burlington Iowa, Earl, address not listed,
and a sister, Mrs Alta Bartell, Washington, DC. A painter by trade, he
had been employed by A.H Seelye, Peoria contractor. He was a member of
the Christian church, the painter's union and a veteran of World War I.

Born June 25, 1926, in Marietta to William and Mary Etta Smith
Ackerson, she married Otto Pendl on Aug. 29, 1944, in Macomb. He
survives.
Also surviving are one son, Otto W. of Bellevue; one daughter,
Betty Lyons of Mapleton; three grandchildren; four brothers, Perry
Ackerson and Clarence Ackerson, both of Bushnell, Glen Ackerson of
Pekin and William Ackerson of Marietta; two sisters, Florence Bollinger
of Mesa, Ariz., and Charlotte Kruzan of Canton; and several nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
She was a nurse's aide at Highview Nursing Home in Peoria for 10
years, retiring in 1968. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church
in Bartonville, where she volunteered for the church food pantry.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at her church. The Rev.
Daniel Stalker will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m.
Friday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, and 30 minutes before
services at the church. Burial will be in Wiley Cemetery in Fulton
County.

He was a former member of the National Farmers Organization (NFO) and
the Augusta Senior Citizens Center.
He was survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded
in death by one sister, Mary Curtis; and one brother, Glenn Peterson.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9 in the
Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta with the Rev. Loren Curtis and Rev.
Charles Peterson officiating. Burial was in Blackburn Cemetery near

Bobby Lynn Phillips, 60, Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of
Bushnell, died Sunday June 5, 2005. at St. Francis Hospital, Beech
Grove, Ind.
He was born Jan. 3, 1945, in Canton, the son of Bernard F.
Phillips and Mildred Walker. He married M. Dianne Schade, June 5, 1964.
He then married Patricia Ann Markley, Nov. 24, 1970. He then married
Jean Marie (LaCourse) Putman, Feb. 16, 1990.
He is survived by two sons, Gregory (Nora) Phillips, Springfield
and Geoffrey (Lauri) Phillips, El Paso; one stepson, Larry (Roberta)
Maloney, Linn Grove; one daughter, Angela Blann, Bushnell; five
grandchildren; two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bernard Ray; and one stepdaughter, Theresa Maloney.
He moved to Bushnell in 1954 and graduated from B-PC High School
in 1963. He relocated to Indianapolis in May 1984 following the closing
of the Canton International Harvester plant. He continued his position
at the Navistar International Foundry, retiring in 1992. From August
1992 through 1999, he worked as a bar manager for Service America Corp.
providing beverage service to what is now known as RCA Dome. He was an
avid sports fan, a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan and especially enjoyed
the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts and horse racing. Other
activities included collecting antique clocks and spending time with
his family and friends. He served in the military police of the U.S.
Army from 1969-71 stationed in Fort Ord, Calif.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family has planned a
"Memorial Celebration of Life" from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at
the Hollis-Martin Funeral Home, Bushnell.
The family invites each to bring a poem or story about their
relationship with Bobby to be posted at the funeral home. Comments can
be sent or brought to the funeral home prior to the service.

Beardstown; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister
Genevieve Russell of Camp Point, IL; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters; Lonora Phillips and
Frederica Heaton; four brothers Temple, Loren, William (Jay) and George
H. Phillips.
He was an Army Sergeant during WWII serving with 1st Cavalry
Division, Battery C, 99th Field Artillery during the New Guinea,
Bismarck Archipelago, Southern Philippines, and Luzon Campaigns.
He was awarded the Purple Heart, Victory Medal, American Theater

Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Gilland officiating.
Interment will be in the Rushville City Cemetery where military rites
will be accorded. Visitation will the family will be from 12:00
noon until the time of services Monday. Friends may also call
from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may

Lawrence Pierce, 97, Kokomo, Ind. formerly of Clinton, passes
away Nov. 2, 2002 at 11:50 a.m. at the Sycamore Village Healthcare,
Kokomo, Ind.
He was born May 1, 1905 in Huntsville the son of Millard F. and
Candace (Moore) Pierce. He married Maurine Miller on Aug. 16, 1932 in
Canton, Mo. She passed away Dec. 31, 1995.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judith Lumbert, Kokomo, Ind.;
one son-in-law, Ganesha Visweswaran, Fresno, Calif.; four
grandchildren, Rebecka Gillum, Carmel, Ind., Rani Visweswaran, El
Sobrante, Calif., Kamala Visweswaran, Austin, Texas and Raja
Visweswaran, Fresno, Calif.; one great-great granddaughter, Jackie
Gillum, Carmel. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, one
brother and three sisters.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a retired
teacher after 44 years of service. He was a member of the retired
teachers Association, a member of the Clinton Kiwanis, member of East
Ill Department of Aging, Friendship Center Board McLean and DeWitt
Regional School Trustee.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002 at 10 a.m.
at the Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton, with Ed Bacon officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Clinton. Memorials may be made

RUSHVILLE - Helen D. Pigg, 81, of Rushville died at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1991, at her residence.
Born June 20, 1910, in Vermont, Ill., to Lawrence and Dovie
Hopping Termin, she married Freiley L. Pigg on March 17, 1927, in
Keokuk, Iowa. He died Sept. 18, 1975. One son, Richard, one daughter,
Mary Fuqua, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one
great-grandson preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Robert of Lakewood, Colo.; two daughters,
Mrs. Norman (Ruth) McMillen and Mrs. Robert (Linda) Ward, both of
Rushville; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, United
Methodist Women's Society, Woodstock Home Extension, and was active in
the Schuyler County Senior Citizens Club.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Roby Funeral Chapel,
Rushville, the Rev. William Hesseldenz officiating. Visitation will be
from 6 to 8 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be in Rushville City
Cemetery.

schools, died of consumption, on Sunday last, at the residence of her

Juanita B. Allen Pippins, 79, a resident of the Macomb Senior

1, 2004, at the center.
She was born July 27, 1925 near Abingdon to Ivan and Hazel
McFadden Butterfield. She was later adopted by Edward Heaton. She
married Albert Ardell Allen. She later married John Pippins and he
preceded her in death.
She was also preceeded in death by her parents; three sons,
Herbert Gale Allen, Donald D. Allen and Edwin Raymond Allen; one
brother; and one sister.
She is survived by are one daughter, Jenny (Forrest) Park,
Galesburg; three sons, Albert "Sam" (Marlene) Allen, Galesburg, Ronald
(Linda) Allen and Jerry (Teresa) Allen, Abingdon; several
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepgrandchildren and step
great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker and had lived in Macomb the past 25 years. Prior to that she had lived in Abingdon.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside service will be at 10 a.m.
Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at the Abingdon Cemetery. There will be no
visitation.

11:50 a.m. Sunday, June 14, 1992, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in

Born May 25, 1932, in Burakova, Ukraine, to Metro and Maria
Nestrarenko Poltawsky, he married Sarah Wilmot on July 25, 1956, in
Rushville. She survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Maria Poltawskya of Kharkov,
Ukraine; two sons, John A. of Rushville and Jeffrey of Danville, Pa.;
one daughter, Mrs. Russ (Julie) Anderson of Bloomington; and one
sister, Yavdokia "Dunya" Poltawskya of Kharkov, Ukraine. He was
preceded in death by his father, one infant son, James, and one
brother. He moved to Rushville from Salzburg, Austria, in September
1951, and became a U.S. citizen April 22, 1954, in Fort Leonard Wood,
Mo.
He was employed for 20 years at the Ohio River Co. before
retiring in 1974. He later was a self-employed carpenter, and had
worked for the past 15 years at NTN- Bower Corp. in Macomb.
A U.S. Army veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American Legion
Post 4. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roby Funeral Chapel in
Rushville. The Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be
from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral chapel, with military rites
conducted by American Legion Post 4 at 8 p.m. Burial will be in
Rushville City Cemetery.

He was a Korean War Air Force veteran and received the bronze star.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Stoneking
Cemetery, rural Macomb, the Rev. Ernest Louderman officiating. Military
rites will be conducted by Macomb Veterans of Foreign Wars 1921.

He was born in McDonough County Oct. 9, 1925, a son of Floyd and
Josephine Lashbrook Prather. He married Doris Ebbert Nov. 10, 1948, in
Macomb, and she survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Patty, Pamela, Kathy, and
Mary, all at home; his father of Ray; two brothers, Robert of
Beardstown and Dale Prather of Kaneville; and two sisters, Miss
Isabelle Prather of Lincoln and Mrs. Betty Shinall of Texas. His mother
died earlier.
Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Roby Funeral Chapel, with
Wayne Douglas of Sciota Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in
Rushville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 7p.m. today at the funeral

He lived in Rushville the last two years and earlier resided in Sciota eight years. He was a farmer before his illness.

Waynesville, Ohio; and three nephews, Robert Fulks of Rushville, Carter
Horney of Anaheim, Calif., and Stanley Horney of Phoenix, Ariz.
She received her bachelor's degree from Western Illinois
University and her master's degree from the University of Illinois. She
taught in the Peoria elementary school system until she retired.
She was a member of the Women's 18 Hole Golf League in Peoria.

She was a member and past president of the American Legion

Eastern Star.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

10:10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 1992, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in

Born July 23, 1915, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, to
Orrin B. and Louisa Jane Stewart Ingles, she married Lacy Rambo on June
1, 1937, in Schuyler County. He died on Dec. 26, 1972. She also was
preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Gail (Alma) Young of
Rushville; one brother, Orrin Eugene Ingles of Peoria; and several
nieces and nephews.
She owned and operated Sally's Beauty Shop in Rushville for 35
years until retiring in 1973. She attended Sugar Grove United Methodist
Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Roby Funeral Chapel in

Kellerville Man Is Found Dead
Kellerville, Ill., March 2 - Walter Phillip Randall, farmer of
near Kellerville, was found dead in the yard of his home Wednesday
afternoon by his wife, Bessie. An inquest will be held this morning at
10 in the Frey funeral home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Mr. Randall was born July 15, 1878 in Cass county, a son of
Simeon and Elizabeth Randall. He was a member of the Holiness church
near Kellerville and the Modern Woodsmen of America. He has spent most
of his life in the Kellerville community with the exception of four
years in Quincy, Ill.
He was married April 27, 1900 to Miss Queen Hanks who died in 1912. He was married to Miss Bessie Ward April 16, 1918.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Clause Kee,
near Beverly, and Mrs. Walter Teaney of Quincy; a foster daughter, Mrs.
Teryon Schoch of Quincy; five grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. He was the last of a family of seven children.

Randall, who was found dead early Wednesday afternoon in the yard of
his home near Kellerville, will be at 1 in the Frey funeral home here.
Burial will be in Richland Cemetery, near Ripley.

ASTORIA - Lyle D. Ratcliff, age 86, of 3985 N. Ratcliff Road,
Astoria, passed away at 11:26 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, in the Graham
Hospital in Canton.
He was born on Oct. 11, 1918, in Woodland Township, Fulton Co.,
a son of Grover and Carrie (Edlin) Ratcliff. He married Anna R. Hopping
on Nov. 28, 1946, in Astoria. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Dennis (Cindy) Ratcliff of Astoria;
four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one
stepgreat-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry,
four half sisters and one half brother.
He was a farmer, construction worker and truck driver for over 50 years.
He served in the Army during WW II with the rank of T3 SGT, in
Africa, Italy and Okinawa, Japan. He was a former member of the Astoria
American Legion Post #25 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in
Astoria. Wayne Curless will officiate. Friends may call after 2 p.m.
today at the funeral home, where visitation will be one hour prior to
the services on Wednesday.
Memorials can be made to the Hickory Cemetery. Burial will be in
the Hickory Cemetery in Astoria, with military rites provided by the
Astoria American Legion Post #25.

James Clifford Reathaford, age 82, of 305 North Harshbarger
Street, Abingdon, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 1999 at
the Comfort House Hospice at McAllen, Texas.
He was born June 13, 1917 in Versailles, Illinois the son of
William Jennings and Minnie Hume Reathaford. He married Marjorie Herren
in 1935 at Versailles, Illinois. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Joan Stringer, McAllen,
Texas; one sister, Alice Menely, Abingdon, six grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, James W. and Gary Lee; one brother and one sister.
He worked for the Abingdon Pottery for several years, retiring in 1979.
He attended Pontoosuc Community Church, Pontoosuc, Iowa.
He was a member of the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381, Abingdon.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during WW II.
He and his wife had wintered in McAllen, Texas for the past 13 years.
Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 1999 at
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon, with Rev. Bob Dameron
officiating.
Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381

Surviving are a son, Karl of Beardstown; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Note: Ida was born May 02, 1893 Sheldon's Grove, Hickory
Township, Schuyler County, Illinois, the daughter of David Burrell and
Emline Graham. She married December 19, 1917 Schuyler County
to Herman B. Rebman, born 1882, the son of Benjamin Franklin
Rebman and Lousia Messerer.

Born Jan. 29, 1954, in Beardstown to George and Lena Clark
Rebman, he married Candace Miller on July 5, 1975, in Beardstown. She
survives.
Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Rick (Dixie) Jones of Beardstown.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He formerly worked at Maclean Forge in Havana and Rich Lumber
and Oscar Mayer, both in Beardstown. He was a member of United Auto
Workers Local 2040 in Havana.
He was a 1972 graduate of Beardstown High School.

Born Sept. 22, 1922, in Table Grove to Glen and Ethel Skein
Reedy, he married Pauline Jones on Nov. 30, 1942, in Wayland, Mo. She
survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ken of Colchester and Terry of
Ipava; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Peggy) Shaw of Lewistown and Patty
Maloney of Marietta; one sister, Elizabeth "Betty" Walker of Table
Grove; 14 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren;
and two stepgreat-grandchildren. One daughter, Mary White, and one
brother preceded him in death.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a life member of Macomb
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1921 and Table Grove American Legion Post
413. He worked on farms in the Table Grove area.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be at 10
a.m. Friday at Jones Mortuary in Colchester. The Rev. Ralph Swarthout
will officiate. Calling hours will be after noon Thursday at the
mortuary, with the family present one hour before the service. Military
rites will be accorded by his American Legion post at the mortuary.

Our neighbors-murder of Mrs. Alonzo Reeve and child
The eastern part of Pike county is excited over the murder at
Perry on Tuesday of Mrs. Alonzo Reeve and her little babe, but 8 weeks
old. The deed was done by the husband and father, who shortly after
ended his own worthless life saving the infuriated people from taking
things into their own hands. This makes the third murder affair in that
county in a month.

Isabelle Reno, 89, Macomb, died at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the Elms Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Schuyler County, the daughter of
John and Lelah Payne Bly. She married Donald Reno Dec. 26, 1941. He
preceded her in death July 16, 1980.
She is survived by two sisters, Helen Sowers, Havana, and Esther
Chockley, Camden; two brothers, Harold Bly, Ottawa, and Rex Bly,
Stevensville, Md.; one stepson, Fred Reno, California; several
stepgrandchildren; one brother-in-law, Max Reno, Rock Island; two
sisters-in-law, Ethel May Reno, Florida, and Mrs. Herschel Reno, Spring
Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
Isabelle lived most of her life in McDonough County. She worked
as a switchboard operator for many years at Western Illinois
University. She was a member of the Colchester Christian Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8,
2002, at the Bardolph Cemetery, with the Rev. Ernest Louderman
officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no
visitation. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb is in charge of
arrangements.

1954 until she retired in 1994. She was a member of First United

RUSHVILLE - Eileen Rexroat, 78, of Rushville died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1998, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville.
She was born Dec. 24, 1919, in Brooklyn, the daughter of Ernest
and Vala D. Horney Andre. She married G. R. "Rocky" Rexroat in 1942 in
Palmyra; he died in 1996.
Mrs. Rexroat was employed as a program assistant for the Farm
Services Agency in Rushville from 1954 until retiring in 1994. She also
was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
Survivors: two sisters, Betty Fulks of Rushville and Linda Andre
of Springfield; a brother, Harold Andre of Springfield; and several
nieces and nephews.

Born April 20, 1914, in Scotland Township, McDonough County, to
James W. and Dovie I. Woods Rexroat, he married Eileen Andre on Dec. 9,
1943, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, one in infancy, and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was a bookkeeper and later worked with his brothers at Rexroat Grocery in Rushville before retiring.
A World War II Army Air Forces veteran, he was a member of
Schuyler American Legion Post 4 and Paris Masonic Lodge 268, AF&AM.
He also was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home

RUSHVILLE - Beulah E. Richardson, 91, of Rushville, formerly of
Camden, died at 10:01 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1991, at Culbertson
Long-Term Care Facility.
Born April 20, 1900, in Schuyler County to George and Leota
Ambrosius Gabbert, she married George Richardson on June 10, 1922, in
Quincy. He died Feb. 15, 1957. One brother, one sister, one grandson
and one great-granddaughter also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Arlene Estes of Rushville,
Mildred Cox of Camden and Ivagene Quinn of Mount Sterling; one brother,
Kenneth Gabbert of Camden; one sister, Delilah Payne of Rushville; 13
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She was a teacher in the rural Schuyler County schools and later
worked for the secretary of state license and title department,
retiring in 1972. She and her husband also farmed in Camden Township.
She was a member of Camden United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral
Home, Rushville, the Revs. George Buck and Barbara Escarraz
officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral

INDUSTRY -- Eddie K. Riebling, 66, of 3156 Racine St., Aurora,
Colo., formerly of Industry, died Friday, May 27, 1994, in Aurora.
Born April 26, 1928, in rural Vermont to Freeman and Alta Trone
Riebling, he married Donna Lawyer in March 1949 in Industry. He later
married Una Scully in August 1975. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Tony (Linda) Chen of
Springfield and Sandra Riebling of Denver; one stepdaughter, Crystal
Gaczlay of Kerhonkson, N.Y.; four stepsons, Patrick Scully of Apopka,
Fla., Tim Scully of Arvada, Colo., Daniel Scully of Plymouth, Minn.,
and Michael Scully of Aurora, Colo.; his stepmother, Fern Riebling of
Astoria; one brother, Freddie of Industry; two sisters, Mrs. Elvie
(Shirley) Norris of Astoria and Mrs. David (Joyce) Claassen of
Washington; one stepbrother, Robert Walters of Astoria; and 11
grandchildren.
He was a farmer. He also was a parts manager for Snowden
Implement Co. in Industry before moving to Colorado in 1962. He then
was a supervisor for Frontier and Continental airlines, retiring in
December 1993. A Korean War Army veteran, he was a former member of
Vermont American Legion and a member of American Legion Post 1979 of
Aurora, where he served as past commander.
He was a past elder of West Prairie Presbyterian Church in rural Adair.
He served as Democrat committeeman for Adams County. He also
founded and coordinated the Morris Heights Neighborhood "Block" Watch.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Aurora First United
Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Aurora
Chase Mortuary, 1095 Havana St., Aurora, Colo. Burial will be in Fort
Logan Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colo.

ASTORIA - Marjorie P. Riebling, 86, of Astoria died at 1:04 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1992, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
Born July 31, 1906, in Bluff City to Milton Wellington and
Farrie Hamm Hughes, she married Louis Riebling. He died in 1980. She
also was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Surviving are two nephews, Richard McCombs and Allan Hughes; and two nieces, Charlotte Merrill and Joyce Allen.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today at Astoria Cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in
charge of arrangements.

ASTORIA - Russell L. Riebling, 84, of rural Lincoln, formerly of
Astoria, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 1995, at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.
Born April 21, 1911, in Astoria to Lee and Lizzie Gibble
Riebling, he married Zeretha M. Garrett on Feb. 17, 1934, in Canton.
She died July 21, 1992. One grandchild, one great-grandchild and one
brother also preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Earle (Jeanette) Courtney of
Quincy, Mrs. Kenneth (Nedra) Shuman of Lititz, Pa., and Lela Stelter of
Lincoln; one brother, Dean of Littleton, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 15
great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A member of Fulton County Farm Bureau, he farmed in the Astoria area.
He was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren near Astoria,
where he served as an elder. He also was a member of Woodland Township
Cemetery Board.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church. Kevin
Kessler and Marianna Taylor will officiate. Visitation will be 11/2
hours before services at the church. Burial will be in Woodland
Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

ASTORIA - V. Fern Riebling, 92, of Astoria Healthcare Center died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at her residence.
Born Sept. 14, 1904, in Schuyler County to James and Hannah
Margaret Cook Lybarger, she married Lester Walters on Nov. 9, 1923. He
died Dec. 25, 1968. She later married Freeman Riebling on Aug. 1, 1969.
He died Jan. 9, 1979. She also was preceded in death by two sisters and
two brothers.
Surviving are one son, Robert W. Walters of Astoria; one
stepson, Freddie Riebling of Industry; two stepdaughters, Shirley
Norris of Astoria and Joyce Claassen of Washington, Ill.; and a number
of stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and
step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Astoria United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial home in
Astoria. The Rev. Phillip Glick will officiate. Visitation will be from
6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Astoria
Memorial Mausoleum.

LINCOLN - Zeretha M. Riebling, 82, a former Astoria resident,
died at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 1992, at Christian Nursing Home in
Lincoln.
Born May 30, 1910, in Fulton County to El and Minnie Foutch
Garrett, she married Russell Riebling on Feb. 17, 1934, in Canton. He
survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Earle (Jeanette)
Courtney of Quincy, Mrs. Kenneth (Nedra) Shuman of Manheim, Pa., and
Lela Stelter of Lincoln; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandchild and one sister.
She was a member and deaconess of the Woodland Church of the
Brethren, where she taught Sunday school for many years, worked in the
Vacation Bible School program and was a former member of the Women's
District Board of Southern Illinois. She was a charter board member of
the Astoria Senior Citizens Organization.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at her church, with Ron
Burtz officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Shawgo
Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery near
Astoria.
