Obituary of Norma J. Haberman

Norma Haberman
  Norma J. Haberman, 73, of Beardstown, died early Friday, Sept. 28, 2001.
  She was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Beardstown, the daughter of Charles and Beulah Allumbaugh Haberman.
  Surviving are three brothers, William Haberman of Temple, Texas, Alan Haberman of Arenzville, and Roger Kent Haberman of Frederick and numerous nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by her parents.
  Ms. Haberman graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1946.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.  She had worked at Kline Department Store in Beardstown many years ago and then she was employed for several years with the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Springfield.  She loved to work with her family genealogy.
  Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with Matthew Haberman officiating.  Burial was in the Beardstown City Cemetery.
  Memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice.

  MACOMB - W. Robert Hamilton, 78, of 719 S. Pearl St. died at 8:04 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital.
  Born Sept. 28, 1917, in Bardolph to John and Ellen Harris Hamilton, he married Dorothy DeWeese on March 9, 1941, in McDonough County. She survives.
  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) Butler of Astoria and Mrs. Stanley (Anabel) Soper of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
  A farmer, he was a former member of the McDonough County Farm Bureau Board. He attended the University of Illinois. He was a 4-H leader and a Macomb Township trustee.
  He was a former president of the Bardolph Cemetery Board. He served on the McDonough County Telephone Cooperative Board and McDonough District Hospital Board. He was a member of Macomb Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Quincy.
  He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
  Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Skinner will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bardolph Cemetery.
  Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Red Cross Transportation Fund.

  PEORIA - Virgil D. Hamm, 77, of 6920 Swartz Lane died at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.
  Born March 27, 1921, in Browning to Peter A. Sr. and May Curless Hamm, he married Rosalie Janssen. She died Dec. 5, 1991, in Peoria.
  Three brothers also preceded him in death.
  Surviving are one son, Allen Sr. of Peoria; two sisters, Wanda Miller of Astoria and Glenna Hurst of Havana; two brothers, Pete Jr. of Browning and Dale of Bath; and two grandchildren.
  He was a World War II Army veteran.
  A member of Carpenters Local 183 in Peoria, he was a carpenter for the state of Illinois, retiring in 1983.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, where visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

  BROWNING - Ralph E. Hammack, 74, of Rural Route 1 died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at his home.
  Born Sept. 27, 1923, in Isabel Township, Fulton County, to Scott W. and Lela Elizabeth Hampton Hammack, he married Hazel C. Foutch on Feb. 11, 1947, in Peoria. She died April 21, 1993, in Rushville. He also was preceded in death by three sons, Jim, Tom and Bill, one daughter, Barb, one brother and one sister.
  Surviving are four brothers, Doyle of Havana, Dale of Astoria, Donald "Can" of Ipava and Douglas of Meredosia; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
  He was employed at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville, K. Casswoods Timbermill and farmed at Knob Hill Farm.
  He was a member of the Schuyler-Brown FS Co-op and Schuyler County Farm Bureau.
  A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Astoria American Legion Post 25. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Collis Trone will officiate. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the memorial home, where the family will meet with friends from 6 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.

  CANTON - Myra J. Hammond, 95, of 448 N. 10th St., Canton, Ill., passed away at 10:19 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007, at her residence.
  She was born April 27, 1912, in Ray, Ill., to Charles H. and Suzanna (Bishop) Rose. She married Francis M. Hammond on June 13, 1939, in Perryville, Mo. He preceded her in death.
  She is survived by one son, Ron (June) Hammond of Canton; one daughter, Arlen (Kenneth) McGuire of Kirksville, Mo.; two daughters-in-law, Bernita Hammond-Trigg of Canton and Mary Ahitow of Cuba; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
  Also preceding her in death are her parents; two sons, Dick and George; an infant daughter, Patricia Jane; five brothers and two sisters.
  She worked and retired from the Canton Manufacturing Company.
  She was a member of the Cuba Christian Church.
  Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at the Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton, where visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. The Rev. Maureen Stein will be officiating. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens, Canton.

  GOOD HOPE - Helen J. Haney, 76, of rural Good Hope died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 1994, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
  Born Nov. 17, 1917, in Emmet Township, McDonough County, to Henry Alonzo and Luna Wilson Foley, she married Ronald Haney on Dec. 27, 1938, in Moberly, Mo. He survives.
  Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Williams of Glen Ellyn and Mrs. Del (Linda) Ogren of Deerfield; one son, Steven of Blandinsville; and three grandchildren. Three brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded her in death.
  She attended Western Illinois University and later taught school.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home in Macomb. The Rev. Ron Derrig-Green will officiate. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Macomb.

  Born Feb. 22, 1921, in Fulton County to Frank and Bertie {Birdie} Martin Beaty, she married Charles Haney on Aug. 13, 1941, in Wichita, Kan. He survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Frank L. of Colchester; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
  She was a member of Colchester First Christian Church.
  Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Jones Mortuary in Colchester. The Rev. Tom VanMeter will officiate. Calling hours will be anytime until the time of services at Jones Mortuary, where visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery in Vermont.

  Glen R. Hanning, 82, of Huntsville, IL, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2007 at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
  He was born on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1925 in rural Huntsville, IL son of the late Joseph Warden & Ruth Jane Tyree Hanning.  He married Mary Maree Bovey September 27, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Rushville.
  He is survived by (3) daughters: Bonnie Hanning & husband David Childress of Dana, IN, Peggy Dillon of Gaffney, SC, Nancy Willis of Thomson, IL; (2) sons: Danny Hanning & wife Janet of Huntsville, Robert Hanning of Huntsville; (12) grandchildren; (5) great grandchildren;  (1) sister Fern Moore; (1) brother Gale Hanning & wife Joan, all of Rushville.  He was preceded in death by (3) sisters: Anna Mae Newton, Erma Icenogle, & Hazel Hanning.
  Glen graduated from Augusta High School in 1942 and was a life-long farmer.  He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Rushville,  a charter member & past president of the Illinois Assn. for Advancement of Archaeology, member and past president of Siloam Springs Earth Science Club, a member and past president of the Geodeland Earth Science Club, member and past president of the Midwest Federation of Mineralogical & Geological Societies, member & past president of the American Mineralogical & Geological Society, member & past president of the Two Rivers Archaeological Society,  member & past president of the Mississippi Valley Archaeological Society. He gave many programs on archaeology, rocks & minerals for many school classes and civic groups.  Glen was a former member & past president of Schuyler Unit Dist. #1 School Board, served on the Schuyler Home Extension Board and was an election judge in Huntsville Twp. for many years.  He taught and called square dancing classes for Spoon River College and numerous 4-H Clubs.
  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dr. E. Ambrose Stump and Mr. David Haney officiating.  Interment will be in the Huntsville Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to Schuyler Co.   Bertha Elizabeth "Pat" Hanson, 82, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Aug. 11, 2001, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
  She was born May 23, 1919, at Frederick to Carl Utter and Beulah Quinn Utter.  She attended schools and graduated from high school in Frederick.  She served as a Navy nurse during World War II.
  She married George L. Morrall (Morrell) in Jacksonville, Fla., in 1946.  They were later divorced.  On Aug. 26, 1987, she married Francis Hanson in Reno, Nev.  She worked at Just^Òs (?) Store and in clerical positions in numerous other businesses.
  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served as a visiting teacher.  She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and growing roses.  She especially enjoyed her family.
  Survivors include her husband, Francis Hanson of Idaho Falls; two sons, Harry Morrall (Morrell) of Bigby and Jason (wife Kathy) Morrall (Morrell) of Nampa, Idaho; brothers, Jim Utter of Buckeye, Ariz., Bill Utter and Dave Utter, both of Rushville; sisters Carlene Shoupman of Mt. Sterling; and Rose Speers of Rushville; and four grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
  Funeral services were Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 1st Ward, with Bishop Larry Christensen officiating.  Burial was in Fielding Memorial Park under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.

  Surviving are one son, Jon of Peoria; one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Jane) Anderson of Peoria; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral. The Rev. Cannon Ralph J. Stanwise will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wilton Mortuary and one half-hour before services at the church. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery in Good Hope.

  Born Aug. 14, 1909, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, to John Walter and Isabelle Agans Hare, he married Mattie M. Shelts on May 1, 1930, in Rushville. She survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Norman of Hannibal, Mo.; one daughter, Rena Henninger of Rushville; one sister, Olga Nelson of Champaign; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandsons. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
  He was a teacher for 33 years, retiring in 1967. He then was a farmer, retiring in 1974. He was the Schuyler-Brown Extension Youth Advisor for five years. He also served one term on the Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board.
  A past board member of the Schuyler County Farm Bureau, he was a former member and past president of Western Illinois Angus Association.
  He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville, where he taught the Booster Sunday School Class.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  Born July 7, 1914, in Swan Creek to George and Maude Bevard Harper, he married Veta Manard on Sept. 21, 1947, in Macomb. She survives.
  Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Michael (Kathy) Waters of Conway, Ark., Mrs. Ron (Marilyn) Smith of Macomb, Mrs. Eldon (Debra) Derry of Industry and Mrs. Don (Melinda) Horton of Lomax; two brothers, Arlo and Robert, both of Good Hope; five sisters, Vera Vogler, Helen Sperry and Faun Cramer, all of Macomb, Mrs. Merle (Donna) Clemens of Florida and Joan Lovejoy of Bushnell; and 10 grandchildren. One son, Dwight, two sisters and one half brother preceded him in death.
  He was a World War II Army veteran.
  A member of McDonough County Farm Bureau, he farmed in the Good Hope and Sciota areas all his life.
  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Macomb, where he served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent and teacher. He also was a member of New Hope Odd Fellows Lodge and Sciota Rebekah Lodge.
  He was a charter member of Good Hope Bigger and Better 4-H Club and was a 4-H leader for 44 years.
  He was past president of the National Montadale Association, where he was a board member and honorary board director. He also was past president of the McDonough County Married Rural Youth.
  He served as president of the Sciota Telephone Board and served on the committee when the McDonough Telephone Co-op was formed. He also served on the committee to bring electricity to the Sciota area.
  He served on the Sciota Grade School Board.
  Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at his church. The Rev. Gerald Seabaugh will officiate. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb, where family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Macomb, where military rites will be conducted by Macomb American Legion and Macomb Veterans of Foreign Wars.

  He was educated in Macomb and was a junior at Macomb High School.
  He was active in the Macomb Jr. Bowling League.

  Guy B. Harris, 70, of Springfield died at 2:10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital.
  He was born on Feb. 1, 1917, in Waverly, the son of Mason and Ada Reed Harris. He married Joyce Jean Watts in 1946. Preceding him in death were his parents and one son, Alfred "Ozzie" Harris.
  Mr. Harris served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Jean; five daughters, Donna Jacobs of Arlington, Texas, Marilyn Blickenstaff of Browning, Kathleen Harris and Suzanne Harris, both of Springfield, and Victoria Mason of Houston, Texas; two sons, David Harris of San Diego, Calif., and Steven Patrick Harris of Springfield; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

  Born June 22, 1903, in Browning to Oliver Perry and Mary Jane Markley Harris, he married Murine Bradley on June 4, 1931, in Rushville. She survives.
  Also surviving are two sons, Richard of Salmon, Idaho, and Verne E. of Creve Coeur; one daughter, Cherise L. Mudd of Pekin; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. One son, one brother and one sister preceded him in death.
  He was a barber in Browning for many years. He then was a self-employed commercial fisherman. He last worked for 10 years at Hiram Walker in Peoria.
  He was a member of Faith Christian Church in Washington. He was a member of AMVETS Post 69 in North Pekin.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schmidt-Haller Funeral Parlors in East Peoria. The Revs. David Mudd and John King will officiate. Visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral parlors. Burial will be in Browning Cemetery.

  She was born June 1, 1946 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Leon and Jennie (Hicks) Hood.  She married Edwards M. Heaton on March 16, 1968 in Macomb.  He survives.
  She is also survived by two sisters Leona Gabel of Winford, Mo., Judith Addington of Butler, Okla.; and one half brother, Joseph Hood of Rock Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death by one sister, Etto Mae Burshing.
  Mrs. Heaton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macomb and the Macomb Visual Handicapped.  She was a foster mother for many children.
  Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Seabaugh officiating.
  The family will meet with friends after the services at the church.

  Born Dec. 4, 1909, in Camden Township, Schuyler County, to John Calvin and Blanche Loring Unger, she married Archibald J. "Arch" Heinz on June 29, 1938, in Peoria. He died Jan. 3, 1981, in Peoria. Two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
  Surviving are one son, James J. of Dahinda; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Maribell L.) Knickerbocker of Chesterfield, Mo.; one sister, Mary U. Holloway of St. Louis; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
  She received her degree in home economics from Bradley University in Peoria in 1931. She was a teacher for Peoria School District 150 from 1932 to 1943. She was a substitute teacher at Sacre Coeur Catholic School in Creve Coeur for many years.
  She and her husband established Heinz Drug Store in Creve Coeur in September 1947. She was a charter member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur and its Altar & Rosary Society.
  She also was a member of Lambda Phi sorority, Creve Coeur Women's Club, Creve Coeur Home Extension and Creve Coeur Tri-Centennial Committee.
  She was a Girl Scout leader. She also was a founding member of the Creve Coeur Library.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at her church. The Rev. James E. King will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel, with a Christian wake service at 8 p.m. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.

  He was born on January 12, 1951, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of the late Gilbert and Ruth (Cook) Heinz. He first married Karel Million on May 29, 1971. He later married Penny Kostich on December 21, 1991 in Rushville and she survives.
  Also surviving are two sons Zach Heinz and wife Christina of Aurora and Jacob Heinz and fiancée Karen of Montgomery, step son Mike Kostich of Las Vegas, Nevada and stepdaughter Jaclyn Kostich of Darien, three grandchildren Nick Fletcher, Bailee Heinz and McKenna Heinz, special family friend Staci Strub of Phoenix, Arizona, five brothers Mike Heinz and wife Deni, Rolly Heinz and wife Kate all of Rushville, Vince Heinz and wife Pam of Frederick and Rick Heinz and wife Becky of Las Vegas, Nevada and Gilbert Heinz, Jr. of Decatur, four sisters Joyce and Danny Baggott of Peoria, Lorrie Brownfield and husband Ed of Manito, Cherie Heinz of Galesburg, Marnie Eskridge and husband Brian of Canton father-in-law George Villies and wife Kathy of Greece and mother-in-law Angela Tziazaras of Greece, brothers-in-law Pete Villies and wife Mary of Orland Park and Bill Villies of Chicago and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.   A 1969 graduate of Brimfield High School, Randy served as Torpedo man 3rd Class Petty Officer in the US Navy, during the Vietnam War from 1970 to 1974. He was a general manager for Victor Dana Corporation in Havana from 1974 until 1989. He was transferred to Chicago in 1980. In March 2001 he began as truck driver for DOT Foods in Mt. Sterling.
  He was a member of the Rushville Moose Lodge # 506, the Alligator Club and a former member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4. He loved the game of golf and on most weekends could be found out on the golf course. He traveled the world, from Europe to Australia, Canada to Mexico and 49 US states. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. Randy lived a full life and touched everyone who knew him. He had a big heart and always looked for the good in people. He will be truly missed.
  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Rushville with Father Marcel Kaberwa as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by Peoria Burial Detail of the United State Navy and the Schuyler American Legion Post # 4. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials may be given to the Rushville Community Chest.

  Roy L. Heitz, 77, of Cuba, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
  He was born March 2, 1924, at Rushville, the son of Roy Rufus and Vernie Belle (Jones) Heitz.  He married Eloise Phillips on Aug. 2, 1949, at Palmyra, Mo.
  She survives, along with one son, Richard (wife Marcia) Heitz of rural Cuba; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Charlotte) Cowser of Bradford, and Mrs. Gary (Dianna) Graham of Canton; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
  He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Heitz, and one grandson, Michael Cowser.
  He retired from the former Canton Works of International Harvester Company after 30 years.  He also farmed in the Cuba area for the past 45 years.  He was a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Cuba American Legion Russell Smith Post 533.  He was of the Methodist faith.
  Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Cuba, with Rev. Nile Hill officiating.  Burial will be in the Rushville City Cemetery with military services conducted by his American Legion post.

  Born May 28, 1913, in Rushville to Fred and Ruth Harmon Miller, she married James B. Henderson on Jan. 5, 1930, in Mount Sterling. He survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Robert of Fullerton, Calif.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. One brother preceded her in death.
  She was manager of See's Candies in Whittier, Calif., for 20 years, retiring in 1977. She and her husband moved back to Rushville in 1978. She was a member of Schuyler Senior Citizens Council, serving as secretary, vice president and president. She served two terms as president of the West Central Illinois Area Council on Aging RSVP. She received a certificate of lifetime achievement from the Illinois Department on Aging during Women's History Month at the Illinois State Fair in 1994.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Bonser will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  Surviving are two sons, Wayne (Cathryn) of Ripley and Richard (Penny) of Mount Sterling; two daughters, Mrs. Roland (Reta) Rutledge of Ripley and Mrs. James (Annette) Jones of Arenzville; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leslie Steadman of Bryant and Charles Steadman of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister, Maxine Bedenbender of Littleton; and several nieces and nephews.

  She survives along with (3) daughters, Shara Fagan & husband Don of Rushville, Robin Herche of Boise, ID, Nena Martin & husband Tom of Littleton; (7) grandchildren; Tammy & Richard Sours, Nikki Ham, Luke Martin, Quinn, Effie & Emma Sumers (3) great grandchildren; Kyndall & Karlee Ham & Katie Scott; several nieces & nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Herche.
  He was a life long Schuyler Co. farmer.  He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church & the Ninety and Nine Methodist Men’s Group of Rushville.  He was a 4-H leader, served on the board of directors for Rushville Farmers Elevator & Schuyler/Brown F. S. for 21 years.  He also served on the Two Rivers Regional Council for elected officials, CAA board of directors, Rushville Township & Schuyler County Board.

  Surviving are one daughter, Mary Jane (Emanuel "Sonny") Voepel of Quincy; two granddaughters, Lynn Voepel and Susan (Shawn) Doran both of Quincy; one grandson {son}, Steven (Lily) Voepel of Carol Stream; and one great-granddaughter.
  A teacher for 44 years, she began her career teaching all grades in one-room country schools. She taught at Ward No. 1, Ward No. 2, Sheldons Grove, Mount Zion, Hawkeye, East Liberty, Lamoine, Bethel, Fey and Webster grade schools, retiring in 1971. She received her teacher's certificate from Western Illinois University in Macomb and continued taking education courses throughout her teaching career, earning enough credits to graduate.
  She was a member of the National, Illinois and Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers associations, the former Rushville Federation of Women, Woodstock and Sugar Grove Home Extension, Senior Citizens Area Agency Council and Rushville Senior Citizens.
  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville.

  He is also survived by three daughters, Carole Ann (George) Runkle, Littleton, Mary Marie (Randall) Armes, Edwardsville, and Sandra Kay (Dan) Heitz, Colchester; eight grandchildren, Pam Cunningham, Indiana, Peggy Rittenhouse, Iowa, Bradley White, Alabama, Tim Runkle, Jacksonville, Macii White, Glen Carbon, Travis Heitz, Colchester, Kelli Guth, Washington, and Karri Norton, Macomb; 10 great-grandchildren, Clint, Jordan, Kelsey, Alexandria, Conner, Claire, Zachary, Karli, Tessa and Kynli; two brothers, John Hickman, Colorado, and Lyle Hickman, Canton; and two sisters, Dora Fry, Rockford, and Florence Mustard, Macomb.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, and four sisters, Viola Bricker, Leona Blansett, Hannah Hillyer and Irma Beatty, and one son-in-law, Bob White.
  He had lived in the Littleton area most of his life where he was a lifelong farmer before moving to Macomb in 1989.
  He was a trustee for the Industry-Littleton Fire District for more than 20 years, a member of the Littleton United Methodist Church, the Macomb American Legion Post #6 and the Macomb VFW and was past president of the McDonough County Senior Citizens Center.
  He was an Army Veteran serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a dealer for Vemeer Balers and Scranton Manufacturing selling gates and feeders.
  Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb, with the Rev. Dixie Croxton officiating.
  Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Macomb with full military rites conducted by the Macomb VFW and Macomb American Legion.

  Delores "Dee" Hickman, 71, Greeley, Colo., died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at North Colorado Medical Center, Greeley, Colo.
  She was born Oct. 13, 1932, in El Paso, the third of five children born to Samuel Henry and the Rev. Ruby Irene (West) Whitten.
  She married John C. Hickman Sept. 2, 1950. He survives.
  She is also survived by two daughters, Brenda Hunter and friend John Stahley, and Debie Coleman, all of Greeley, Colo.; one son, Greg (Tina Ortega) Hickman, Loveland, Colo.; and seven grandchildren, John Coleman, Georgia, Nick Dinkel, Brianne, Amanda and Seth Hunter and Jeanette Hickman, all of Greeley, Colo., and Chris Hunter, Iowa.
  She graduated from Bushnell High School, where she participated in music and drama and later worked for a radio station. She returned to Bushnell for most of her class reunions.
  After her marriage, she and her husband lived in Troy, Ohio for 10 years, where she was active with the Troy Civic Theater. She loved gardening and being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. She and her husband were members of the Church of God of Anderson, Ind.
  In August 1968, they moved to Greeley, Colo. She worked in the insurance industry and owned Dee Lee Insurance Agency in Eaton and Windsor.
  She loved gospel music and was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved reading, sewing for her grandchildren and cooking for family gatherings.
  Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at Stoddard Funeral Home.
  Interment was at the Linn Grove Cemetery, Greeley, Colo.

  He was born April 17, 1930 in Tennessee, the son of Raymond L. and Eva (Yates) Hickman.
  He married Carol Beth Friday May 1, 1954 , who survives.
  He is survived by two sons, Curtis Alan Hickman and Gary Lee Hickman, both of Macomb, one daughter, Janet Sue (Doug) Willey, Bardolph.; three grandchildren, a brother, Lyle Hickman, Tennessee, two sisters, Annabel Edgerton, Kankakee, Rosemary Ooyen, Covington, Geo.
 He served in the army during the Korean War.
  He worked for Macomb Dairy and then was a Macomb Police Officer for 30 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Macomb VFW Post 1921 and American Legion Post 6.
  Funeral serrvices were Saturday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with the Rev. Beth Rupe officating.

Ferris of Bushnell and Iva May Smith of Hillsdale; three brothers, Cletus Hickman of Macomb, John Hickman of Greeley, Colo., and Lyle Hickman of Canton; three sisters, Dora Try {Fry} of Rockford, Leona Blansett of Sciota and Florence Mustred of Tennessee, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Two sisters and one grandson preceded her in death.
  She was head of the cafeteria at East Elementary School in Bushnell for 25 years.

  Born Dec. 26, 1905, near Brooklyn, Schuyler County, to Charles and Cora Robinson Hillyer, he married Bernice McClairn in 1926. She preceded him in death. He later married Frances Miles McIntyre on July 26, 1970, in Peoria. She survives.
  Also surviving are one daughter, Darlene Baldwin of Memphis, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Joyce Witt of Washington and Donna Johnson of Arlington, Texas; one stepson, David McIntyre of Washington; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
  One sister, one brother and one half brother preceded him in death.
  He worked at Kroger for 33 years. He then worked in the insurance business, retiring in 1970. A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He also was a member of Rushville Assembly of God Church in Rushville, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Marvin Chockley will officiate. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Blackburn Cemetery near Brooklyn, where military rites will be conducted by his American Legion post. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

  Born July 20, 1919, in Bushnell to Charles Lee and Anna Moore Hillyer, he married Hannah L. Hickman on May 15, 1953, in Macomb. She died June 15, 1993. He also was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
  Surviving are three daughters, Doris R. Ferris of Bushnell, Wanda Mason of Stronghurst and Iva May Smith of Hillsdale; one son, Richard A. Doyle of Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Clair of Kingsburg, Calif.; and two sisters, Mildred Kreps of Bushnell and Wanda Hunter of Abingdon.
  He was employed at Oblander Hardware in Bushnell for more than 20 years and also worked as a carpenter in the Bushnell area for many years.
  A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of Bushnell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1422 for 50 years.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Green will officiate. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by his VFW Post.

  He was born on Jan. 15, 1960, in Peoria to John A. and Delores (Jordan) Himegarner. He married Debie Haahn of Elmwood on March 9, 1984.
  Surviving are his mother and father of Yates City; one son, Craig of Elmwood, stationed in South Carolina with the U.S. Navy; one sister, Bonnie (Dave) Langley of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Jack (Karrie) and Jay (Sherrie) both of Yates City; several nieces and nephews; and several young people who called him Dad.
  Randy worked at Westart General Tire in Peoria for the last 23 years.
  Randy was very involved in his son's activities, Little League; Cub Scouts; school activities; and Boy Scouts. He was an avid hunter, which was one more activity he taught his son and they enjoyed doing together.
  He graduated from Yates City High School and was a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb.
  He was a member of Elmwood United Methodist Church.
  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood, where visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

  Surviving are one stepdaughter, Lena Reeder (husband, Chester) of Macomb; six stepgrandchildren, several step great and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Lucille Clark; three brothers, Claude, Clarence and Clifford Vandiver; and four sisters, Winnie Vandiver, Bonnie Huddleston, Era Hilburn and Eva Sanders.
  She was a nurse at the Methodist Hospital in Hot Springs, retiring in 1946.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
  Graveside services were Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Hot Springs, Ark., with Rev. David Crooks officiating.

  BILOXI - Royal Moore Hodges, 85, died Thursday, November 12, 1998, at Keesler Air Force Base Hospital.
  Mr. Hodges was born March 24, 1913, in Schuyler County, Illinois, the son of David and Adda Hodges. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ivan C. Hodges.
  Mr. Hodges graduated from High School in Rushville, Illinois. He received a degree in physics from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois, and a masters degree from the University of Illinois.
  He taught Science at White Hall High School in Illinois from 1937 to 1940 where he met his wife, Marjorie Moulton. After World War II he taught chemistry at Superior, Wisconsin at a branch of Wisconsin University, before returning to Boca Raton, Florida.
  Mr. Hodges served in World War II in the Navy in the Pacific aboard an electronic repair ship. He retired from the USNR at age 60 as a Commander. He and his family moved to Biloxi in 1947 after the hurricane destroyed the Boca Raton, Fla., airfield. He was an avid hunter and NRA member.
  He retired from the Civil Service at Keesler AFB after 30 years service in the radar school. He was in the first group of 25 personnel sent from Scott Field in Illinois to Boca Raton, Fla., to set up the radar school.
  Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marjorie; one son, William D. Hodges of Biloxi; three daughters, Diantha Stafford of Clinton, MS, Susan Michelson of Greenville, S.C., and Dr. Janet Johnson of Atlanta, and 10 grandchildren.
  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, at Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.

Also preceding her in death were a son, Eugene Forsythe; a daughter, Irene Krupps; five children in infancy; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; eight brothers, Earl, Bruce, Otha, Arther {Arthur?}, Ralph, Harvey, Frank and Oliver Armstrong; and three sisters, Alta Martin, Anna Bradley, and Edna Furry.
  Mrs. Hoelscher was a homemaker. She attended Bell School in Brown County and was a member of the Mount Sterling Christian Church. She had served as a 4-H leader, was a member of Brown County Home Extension and a member of Siloam Springs Earth Science Club.

  She was born Aug. 22, 1912, in Schuyler County to Alvery and Mary Gossage Doyle. She was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Robeson. She married Charles Cash in 1933. She married Rex Holeman on Aug. 23, 1969. He survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Larry Cash of Houston; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. One son, Richard Cash, one sister and one half sister preceded her in death.
  She worked at McGraw-Edison for 20 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Macomb American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Club Auxiliary and was a former member of Macomb Women's Bowling League.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home. The Rev. Susan Coller will officiate. Calling hours will be after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no family visitation. Burial will be in Camp Creek Cemetery near Industry.

  Holloway, Mary Grace Unger 99, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2006 at Brooking Park, Chesterfield, MO with family members at her side. Mary was born May 2, 1907 in Camden Township, Schuyler County, Illinois to John C. Unger and Agnes B. Unger. She was married to Jerome K. Holloway who preceded her in death in 1969.
  Three sisters, Leah D. Martin, Sarah B. Unger and Iva L. Heinz and two brothers, Emery Unger and Vernon Unger also preceded her in death.
  Mary graduated from Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1928. Upon graduation, she worked as a financial and drama reporter for the Washington Times and Herald in Washington, D.C. until 1935. At that time she started her long and successful career with the federal government, starting first with the Department of Agriculture and then serving 13 years in the General Accounting Office. In 1950, Mary went to work for the I.R.S. where she remained for 15 years, setting the standards and placement procedures for office auditors, revenue agents and criminal investigators. Mary has resided in St. Louis since 1969. She was a member of the League of Women Voters, Women for City Living, and the Centenary Methodist Church of St. Louis, in addition to being an avid crossword puzzler, a voracious reader and the family humorist and storyteller.
  She is survived by step-sons Jerome K. (Gertrud) Holloway, Jr., John E. (Ann) Holloway and the late J. Donald (Donna) Holloway; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was a special aunt to James J. (Janice) Heinz, Maribell L. Knickerbocker and many great nieces and nephews. Mary was also aunt to the late Jerry C. (Ruth) Martin, James O. (Alice) Martin, the late Etta J. (Howard) Walters, the late Jack L. Martin, Earl Jr. (Norma Jean) Martin, Julia A. (Leo) Leonard, the late Joseph P. Martin, John D. Martin and the late Jo Ann Martin.
  Services: She will be interred in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Wheaton, Maryland. A memorial service will be celebrated at the Centenary Methodist Church (16th and Olive in St. Louis) at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006.   RUSHVILLE - Cecil H. Hood, 72, of 619 N. Congress died at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, 1994, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
  Born Feb. 8, 1922, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, to James William and Vivian Bridgewater Hood, he married Marjorie Phelps on Sept. 19, 1947, in Beardstown. She survives.
  Also surviving are three sons, Harold of Rushville, James of Concord, N. C., and Robert of Basin, Wyo.; one daughter, Mrs. Chris (Lynn) Trone of Rushville; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
  A lifelong Schuyler County farmer, he retired in 1976. A World War II Army Air Corps veteran, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4.
  Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Kirkham will officiate. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by his American Legion Post.
  Memorials may be made to the Schuyler Senior Center.

  Born March 7, 1929, in Beardstown to Roy E. and Marion Bingham Taylor, she married Albert "Buss" Hood on July 25, 1948, in Beardstown. He survives.
  Also surviving are two sons, Norman of Rushville and Steve of Jacksonville; four brothers, Jim, Tom and David Taylor, all of Beardstown, and Donald "Dick" Taylor of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren.
  One brother preceded her in death.
  She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home, Beardstown. Elder Jim Elledge will officiate. Calling hours will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  FREDERICK - Jeanne Hood, 70, of rural Frederick died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, at her residence.
  She was born March 7, 1929, in Beardstown, the daughter of Roy E. and Marion Bingham Taylor. She married Albert "Buss" Hood in 1948 in Beardstown.
  Mrs. Hood was a 1947 graduate of Beardstown High School and was a member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Beardstown.
  Survivors: husband, Albert "Buss"; two sons, Steve (wife, Julie) Hood of Jacksonville and Norman (wife, Alice) Hood of Rushville; four grandchildren; and four brothers, Jim, Tom and David Taylor, all of Beardstown, and Donald "Dick" Taylor of Indianapolis.

  Melvin McKenzie Hook, 79, of Rushville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
  He was born April 20, 1922, in Hancock County, the son of the late Damon McKenzie and Leora (Huff) Hook.  He married Rose Ellen Ward on Oct. 11, 1944, in Rushville.  She preceded him in death on March 9, 1986.
  Surviving are two sons, Terry A. Hook (wife Jann) of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Philip T. Hook (wife Solidad) of Brookfield; one daughter, Marijane Kolb (husband Carl) of Glendale Heights; four grandchildren; one step-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
  He served with the Navy during WWII and was engaged in action in the Pacific Theater.  He first worked for United Airlines as a flight officer in the air transport command and later was in the communications and computer services division, retiring in 1982 after 40 years of service based in San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago.
  He was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville, Schuyler American Legion Post 4, Rushville Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 9, Rushville Moose Lodge 506, and was a member and volunteer with the Phoenix Opera House in Rushville.
  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Dr. E. Ambrose Stump officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville.  Memorials may be given to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the Schuyler American Legion Post 4.

  Born May 2, 1917, in Brown County to Earl and Flora Lear Lashbrook, she married Harold Henry Hopkins on July 4, 1935, in Virginia, Ill. He died Oct. 15, 1989. She also was preceded in death by three children, two brothers and one sister.
  Surviving are four sons, Harold Eddie and Orson Dean, both of Astoria, James A. of Rushville and Fred H. of Menard; three brothers, Clyde Lashbrook and Carl Lashbrook, both of Beardstown, and Fred Lashbrook of Rushville; four sisters, Ruth Wheelhouse of Galva, Grace Johnson of Coal Valley, and Justine Sipes and Maroy Claassen, both of Rushville; 12 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
  She was a housekeeper at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
  Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Collis Trone will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.
