Obituary of Darwin "Bill" King Logue
Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Dane County, WI, September 20, 2003
Logue, Darwin King
SPRING GREEN - Darwin King Logue, age 86, died on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at a local hospital, following a long illness. "Bill" Logue, as family, friends and the Taliesin Fellowship knew him, bore the official but seldom used the name of Darwin King Logue.
He was born on May 25, 1917, in Virginia, Ill. For a short time as a boy, he lived in Chicago.
In recent years he became well known in Spring Green as the estate manager in charge of the gardens and grounds of Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin. Bill graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in economics in 1941. Excited about the prospect and possibilities of flying, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II when submarines were off our shores sinking ships in convoys carrying supplies to England. He flew daily missions to find and sink the attackers. When our country entered the war, he was made an officer in the U.S. Naval Air Force. He had something of a daredevil reputation as a flier, once flying through a hangar sideways with wings at 90 degrees to the ground.
After the war he began farming near Rushville where he met, courted and married Sarah Houston on Oct. 20, 1951, in a country church. Together they began farming nearby and raised a family of three boys, Remington and Walter, who live in Arizona, and Anthony, who was killed in a car accident in Arizona.
The family came to Taliesin in 1957, and joined Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin Fellowship. Bill was a supervisor of the USDA crop insurance program at that time. Bill was a great story-teller who could call on his memory for limericks and quotations for any and all occasions. He was a lifetime Green Bay Packers fan, and follower of Grand Prix Formula One racing.
At Taliesin he both worked with the apprentices and shared his interests in sports with them at this own home. Bill was proud of his Irish ancestry and loved the island's literature. In his later years he and Sarah made annual extended visits to Ireland's west country.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sarah; their son, Remington, his wife, Sharyn, and his grandchildren, Mackenzie and Remington Jr.; and his son, Walter, and his wife, Shanda, all of Arizona; his sister, Geraldine Dazey of Sarasota, Fla.; his niece, Gail Krupa of Iowa City, Iowa; his nephew, Grant Dazey of Sarasota; two great-nieces; a great-great-niece; his sister-in-law, Minerva Montooth, and her husband, Charles, who also resides at Taliesin; and their three children.
A memorial service will be held at TALIESIN on Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003. Richardson-Stafford Funeral Home, Spring Green, is in charge of the arrangements.

Wisconsin State Journal, Madison, Dane County, WI, September 20, 2003
Taliesin Estate Manager Dies
The man in charge of keeping Taliesin's grounds immaculate died Thursday at the age of 86. Darwin King Logue, known to friends as Bill, died at a local hospital following a long illness, according to his obituary.
After getting his college degree in economics, Logue hunted German submarines off the Atlantic Coast during World War II as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Once the United States entered the war, Logue was made an officer in the U.S. Naval Air Force. He was a daredevil pilot, says his obituary, once flying sideways through an airplane hanger.
Before becoming the estate manager for gardens and grounds at Taliesin, Logue spent years farming and working for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's crop insurance program. He is survived by his wife, Sarah, their sons Remington and Walter, and grandchildren. Another son, Anthony, died in a car crash.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at Taliesin.

Death of Mrs. Sarah Danner Waddell and Wilson Willcock
Sarah Danner Waddell died: March 05, 1909
Mrs. Sarah Waddell Drowns In a Cisteren at Her Home in Astoria, and Wilson Willcock Succumbs to Heart Disease at His home near Browning Friday
This community was greatly shocked Friday afternoon of last week when the body of Mrs. Sarah Waddell, a lady aged about 67 years, was found floating in the cistern at her home in the northeast part of town.
At about 1:40 p.m. Ike Danner, a nephew of Mrs. Waddell drove up to her home, and at the same moment Mrs. Nancy Myers, a nearby neighbor, was knocking at the door.  Ike came on business and Mrs. Myers for a friendly call.  Failing to secure a response to her knock at the front door Mrs. Myers went to another door and knocked, but still no one responded to the call.  By this time Ike Danner had tied his team and the two instituted a search for the aged lady.  Peering into the window it was seen that her bed was unmade.  A further search revealed the fact that her dishes were unwashed, the fires in the stoves were out and the home deserted.
Further investigation revealed an open cistern and upon looking into the Mr. Danner discovered the body of Mrs. Waddell floating upon the surface of its waters.  Neighbors were at once notified and the body removed from the cistern.

Obituary of Dennis "Denny" Ray Trone

Worthington Funeral Home Obituary
Dennis R. Trone
Captain Dennis Ray "Denny" Trone, 77, of Petersburg, IL, was pronounced dead at 6:07 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008 in Spring Grove Twp., Green County near Brodhead, WI.
He was born on Friday, July 18, 1930 in Rushville, IL.  He was the oldest son of the late Doane & Mabel Ray Trone.  He married Elizabeth Fiala June 5, 1954 in Annapolis, MD after graduating from the United States Naval Academy.
He later completed the Naval Postgraduate School and had a nine-year career before resigning from the Navy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. Lee "Moon" Trone and D. Kent Trone.
He is survived by a loving, faithful and ever supportive wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Fiala Trone; five children, Janet Trone of Mojave, CA, Lisa Ideue & husband Dennis of Fullerton, CA, Amanda Serra & husband Paul of Latrobe, PA, Robert Trone & wife Nancy of Lakeville, MN, and Sophia Trone of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Victoria Serra, and Katharine and Robert Trone.
Denny and his younger brother and best friend, Robert "Moon", bought a half interest in the Dubuque Boat & Boiler Co.  Over a ten-year period, many boats were built including the riverboat Talisman and steamboat Julia Belle Swain. Denny and Moon ran the boat business out of Peoria, but would often lead the lives of gypsies, tramping up and down the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Illinois rivers.  They and their families met many interesting characters and had countless adventures over the years.  After the excursion boat Twilight was built, the business was moved to Galena, IL.  In 2006, Denny finally sold the boat business to long-time employees Kevin and Carrie Stier.  Denny then finally had the time to devote his full attention to what he loved to do, restore and fly the airplanes he had seen and read about as a child. This joy was tragically cut short when he was suddenly killed in an aircraft accident near Brodhead, WI.   Denny was a maverick, leader, mentor, and devoted friend to those in the close-knit communities of riverboats and airplanes, and with his death there has been a great loss of experience and knowledge that can never be replaced.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 10, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Worthington Funeral Home, 331 W. Washington St. in Rushville, IL with the Rev. Wayne Meyer officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery with Military services conducted by a U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.   Denny will be laid to rest beside his father, mother and brother.  Following the burial a memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 210 S. 8th St., Petersburg, IL at 2:30 p.m.  Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.  Private condolences and expressions of  sympathy may be sent to worthing@worthingtonfh.com

He married Elizabeth Fiala June 5, 1954, in Annapolis, Md., after graduating from the United States Naval Academy. He later completed the Naval Postgraduate School and had a nine-year career before resigning from the Navy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert E. Lee "Moon" Trone and D. Kent Trone.
He is survived by a loving, faithful and ever-supportive wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Fiala Trone; five children, Janet Trone of Mojave, Calif., Lisa Ideue and husband Dennis of Fullerton, Calif., Amanda Serra and husband Paul of Latrobe, Pa., Robert Trone and wife Nancy of Lakeville, Minn., and Sophia Trone of Los Angeles; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Victoria Serra and Katharine and Robert Trone.
Denny and his younger brother and best friend, Robert "Moon", bought a half interest in the Dubuque Boat & Boiler Co. Over a 10-year period many boats were built including the riverboat "Talisman" and steamboat "Julia Belle Swain." Denny and Moon ran the boat business out of Peoria, but would often lead the lives of gypsies, tramping up and down the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Illinois rivers. They and their families met many interesting characters and had countless adventures over the years. After the excursion boat "Twilight" was built, the business was moved to Galena. In 2006, Denny finally sold the boat business to long-time employees Kevin and Carrie Stier. Denny then finally had the time to devote his full attention to what he loved to do, restore and fly the airplanes he had seen and read about as a child. This joy was tragically cut short when he was suddenly killed in an aircraft accident near Brodhead, Wis. Denny was a maverick, leader, mentor and devoted friend to those in the close-knit communities of riverboats and airplanes, and with his death there has been a great loss of experience and knowledge that can never be replaced.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Worthington Funeral Home, 331 W. Washington St. in Rushville, with the Rev. Wayne Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Rushville City Cemetery with military services conducted by a U.S. Navy Honor Guard and Schuyler American Legion Post No. 4.
Denny will be laid to rest by his father, mother and brother. Following the burial a memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, 210 S. Eighth St., Petersburg, at 2:30 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
