Helen M. THURWALKER nee LYNCH, 85 of Cahokia, Il. born April 18, 1919 in Willisville, Il. (Perry County) died April 4, 2005, at her grand-daughter Susans residence in Collinsville, Il. Helen was a member of the Maplewood Park Baptist Church and had lived in the Cahokia area for 68 years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Samuel Turner PEARL who died in 1944; her second husband, Charles R. THURWALKER, who died in 1987, her parents, Charles C. and Marie nee KILLION LYNCH, and one brother who passed away in infancy. Dear mother of six children that survive, Sandra (Charles) Groves of Waterloo, Il., Sue Ann (John) Reed of Collinsville, Il., Bob (Barb) Thurwalker of Collinsville, Il., Pamela (Kevin) Bergman of Cahokia, Il., Jim ( Bonnie) Thurwalker of San Antonio, Tx., and David Thurwalker of St Louis, Mo. loving sister of Chuck ( Eileen) Lynch of O'Fallon, Mo., loving grandmother of 16 great-children and 23 great-grandchildren, dear aunt and cousin. Burial was at Mount Hope cemetery, Belleville, Il.
An eleven-months-old child of George TOUCHETTE and wife, of Centerville Station, died yesterday evening at 7 p.m., and will be buried to-morrow morning at 9 a.m., in the Lutheran Cemetery, at Centerville. [22 July 1892 - East St. Louis Journal]
A resident of Sauget the past 42 years, died Monday at Memeorial Hospital, Belleville. Mrs. Turner was the wife of Ted Turner, director of Public Safety at Sauget for many years before his retirement three years ago. She was an elementary school teacher before her marriage.. Surviving, besides her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Betty) Hoover of Millstadt, Mrs. Charles (Vera) Twitty, Lawrenceville, N.J. and Mrs. David (Cheryl) Carlson, Indianapolis, Ind. three sisters, Mrs. Henry Earnhardt, Chesterton, W. Va. and Mrs. Dewey Brooks, and Mrs. Dellis Buzbee both of Anna, Illinois; and seven grand-children. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wedensday at the Kassly Cahokia Mortuary and burial will be in Valhalla Burial Park. Theodore R. Turner
Funeral services for Theodore R. (Ted) Turner, 75, Sauget, former police chief and fire chief of Sauget, were today at the Kassly Mortuary, Cahokia. Burial was in Valhalla Burial Park, Belleville. Mr. Turner died unexpectedly Friday at a home in Cahokia, where he had been trimming trees, according to authorities. Death was due to natural causes. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude nee Pender, parents John C. and Nancy Catherine VanZandt Turner of Union Co., Il, and numerous brothers and sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Betty) Hoover, Millstadt, Mrs. Charles (Vera) Twitty, Lawrenceville, N.J. and Mrs. David (Cheryl)Carlson, Indianapolis, Ind. and seven grandchildren.Mr. Turner was a member of Musicians Local 717, East St.Louis, and Musicians Local 350, Collinsville....BELLEVILLE NEWS DEMOCRAT, MARCH 8, 1976 PAGE 19
