KILLION FUNERAL WILL BE WEDNESDAY
The funeral of G. W. Killion of 343 Collinsville Avenue, one of East St Louis' pioneer business men, will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Christian church, leaving the house at 1:30p.m. Rev. Emannuel Jones of Little Rock, Ark., and the Rev. Thomas Minyard, pastor of the church, will officiate.
Mr. Killion was a resident here for over forty years, was East St. Louis' first photographer and settled in his present location with the business men that constituted the early promoters of this city, and the last one of his associates to pass away.
Mr. Killion came from Indiana to Illinois with his parents(son of Silas D. and Catharine Overshiner Killion). During the Civil war he was a bugler boy in calling recruits. He was too young to enlist in service and followed his father and brother thoughout the war. Mr. Killion was well known here. He was an Odd Fellow and a member of the Modern Woodmen fraternity.
The deceased is survived by his wife and cousins, H. J. Killion of Ava, IL, Shelly Killion of East St. Louis and Mrs. Vander Wilson of Rock Island, Ill. *Many other family members were left out of this obituary. Contact Sue or Susan for more information.
Mr. Killion was 75 years, 5 months and 21 days. Member of Pride of the Valley
Lodge No. 435, I. O. O. F., and Laurel Camp No. 1246, M. W. of A. Funeral
Wednesday, July 25, at 1:30 p. m. from residence, 343A Collinsville Avenue,
to the First Christian church, thence to Mt. Hope cemetery. Services at the
cemetery will be conducted by the Odd Fellows. Kurrus has charge.
