ANTON PETERSON DIES AFTER ILLNESS

Prominent Stookey Township Farmer Dies at His Home

L.F. Anton PETERSON, well-known Stookey township farmer, died at his home at 5 o'clock on Tuesday morning, aged 58 years.  He had been ailing for a long time.
Deceased was born in Stookey township on October 18, 1868 and was the son of Anton and Magdalena PETERSON, nee SCHMIDT.    He was married to Emma GUTHERZ on June 17, 1888.  He was a stone mason by trade and followed this for some time but went to farming later.
He is survived by his widow and eight children:  George PETERSON, Sugar Loaf township, Mrs.Emma OTTEN, Rocky Point, Mrs Magdalena  HOFFMANN, Sugar  Loaf township,  Anton, Charles, Anna, Rose and Louis at home.  He also leaves two brothers and four sisters:  William PETERSON, Augusta,  Kansas; Mrs.G. HARTMANN  and Robert PETERSON, St. Louis; Mrs. John ARNOLD, Stookey; Mrs Frank FARBER, Waterloo and Mrs. Edward BURTON, St.Louis.
The funeral was held on Thursday from the home to Concordia cemetery.  Rev. Walter NEUMEISTER conducted the services.

Mrs. Peterson, Aged Stookey Woman Dies

Mrs. Emma Elizabeth PETERSON, widow of the late Anton PETERSON, died at her home in Stookey Township Sunday night.  She was 84 years old and had been ill for some time, death being due to the infirmities of age.
Mrs. PETERSON was born December 20, 1867, in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Louis and Christine GUTHERZ ,nee FISCHERr.  She was married to Anton PETERSON, who died June 28, 1927.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Emma OTTEN, of Cahokia: Magdalane, wife of Peter HOFFMANN, of here: Rose, wife of Elmer SCHARF, of near Westview: four sons, Anton PETERSON, at home; George PETERSON, Sugar Loaf; Charles PETERSON, Columbia; and Louis PETERSON of Millstadt.  She also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Magdalena, wife of George REICHERT, Mrs.Henrietta HOFFMANN, both of Millstadt, Louis GUTHERZ, of Grand Chain, ILL., and George GUTHERZ, of here; 22 grandchildren nad 14 great grandchildren.
A daughter, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Concordia Evangelical and Reformed church, with Rev. Theodore RASCHE officiating. Burial was in Concordia cemetery and the Strauss funeral home had charge.
