RICHARD PENDER



Richard Pender, was born to Calvin and Elizabeth Pender, September 10, 1870 at Jonesboro.  He departed this life March 17, 1949 at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 7 days.
On November 8, 1891 he was united in marriage to Martha Stone.  To this union six sons and three daughters were born.  Two daughters and four sons preceded him in death.
He professed faith in Christ in 1915 and united with the Galilee Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member for a number of years.  Later transferring his membership to the Fair View church.  He always attended church in the community where he was living as long as his health premitted.
He leaves to mourn his passing his companion of 58 years, two sons, John of Morrisonville, Ill.; George of Cobden; one daughter, Mrs. Myrtle King of McClure; 26 grandchildren; two of whom he reared in his own home, Earl of Cobden and Paul now living in the home; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Callie Penn of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one brother, Wiley Pender, preceded him in death a year ago; and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in Alto Pass, March 19, 1949, Rev. S. L. Spears, officiating.  Interment was in the Alto Pass cemetery.  Norris and Son were in charge of arrangements.
