Mrs. Julia Beggs

Mrs. Julia Maxwell Beggs died at her home near Oakdale
Sabbath morning, April 3, aged 49 years. Her death was
a sad shock to this community, where she was so well
known and highly esteemed from childhood. She was
almost in usual health until a few moments before her
death from heart failure. Julia Maxwell married Wm. Beggs
in 1881. There were born to them twelve children, of whom
eight survive to mourn with their father the loss of a most
devoted mother, who spent her life for her family, ever
ready to minister to their comfort, and also to help others
in need. In early life she joined the Grand Cote Baptist church,
of which she remained a member till her death.
The esteem in which she was held was testified by the
procession of more than fifty carriages that followed her
remains to the Maxwell cemetery.
The funeral service was conducted at the home by
Rev. M.A. Gault.

Mr. Brayfield and family, Mr. and Mrs. E. Maxwell, sr.,
and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Maxwell, jr., Mr. and Mrs.
Wash May of Nashville, Mr. and Mrs. Kelley of Swanwick,
Mr. and Mrs. John Maxwell and son and Mrs. Joe Maxwell
of St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs. Lem Logan and son of Tilden
and several others from Grand Cote, whose names we
did not learn, attended the funeral of Mrs. Julia Beggs Tuesday.
