I       Stammvater: Johannes Hoffmann, farmer, here (oldest traceable ancestor) born about November 23, 1662 (likely not here) died here December 16, 1739 (aged 77 years and 23 days) Married about 1696 (probably not here) to Maria Muehlbach, probably daughter of Baker Chris-tian Muehlbach here (1632-1719). 9 Children (6 boys, 5 of whom died in childhood or before they married and 3 daughters. This left as male heir:

II Georg Hoffmann (called Hansjerg) farmer, here. Born May 5 1700; died here February 16, 1764 (aged 63 years 10 months); married here on July 11 (no year given) to Maria Elizabeth Fritz, daughter of farmer Johann Adam Fritz of Heidenhof bei Weiler zum Stein. 12 Children (6 boys, 4 of whom died in childhood and 6 daughters. This leaves:

III 1) Johann George Hoffmann, farmer here. Born here March 27, 1745, died here 27 Febru-ary 1787: married 3rd time to Christina Reichaert. 1 child, daughter Elisabeth, born April 30, 1805, married Bauer.

      2) Johannes Hoffmann, farmer here; born here August 3, 1751; died here February 11, 1808; married here on April 30, 1774 to Magdalena Koch. 8 children (5 boys of whom one died in childhood and 3 daughters). The sons are:

IV 1) Johann Christian Hofmann born here November 11, 1777; died here March 8 1859;       married Maria Sara Bertsch, 3 children, 1 son, Johann Christian Hoffmann

      Postscript 1; The local Courthouse received in June 1815 from America the death and burial notice of David Hoffman. It was dated November 11, 1813 , and signed by D. Heinrich Muehlenberg, Preacher in the City of Lancaster in Pennsylvania. It was testified that he lived for several years in that city, and worked in a Butcher Shop. He lived a quiet Christian life. He was buried in the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. The death notice was verified by John Passmore, a Notary Public.

      Postscript 2; Johann Georg Hofmann emigrated to America with all his children during the night from the 26th to the 27th of April 1838. As he wrote in December 1838, he and his Friend Michael Scheid, bought a Farm in the state of Ohio, 1 1/2 hrs. from Lancaster. I verify the correctness of this Family Tree according to the local Church books.                   The Evangelical Pastor, D Dr. W. Oehler
