Mrs. Julia Borcherding
Mrs. Julia Anna Borcherding was born in Pilot Knob township Sept. 14, 1855, and passed away after a short illness at her home in Oakdale in the early morning of July 10, 1919, aged 63 years, 9 months and 5 days. In April 1873 she was married to Charles Borcherding, who preceded her in death fifteen years ago. She was a member of the U.P. church of Oakdale. Mrs. Borcherding was a quiet woman, respected by her acquaintances. She was devoted to her home and children, eight of whom survive to mourn the loss of a loving, faithful mother. They are: Edward, George and Elmer of Oakdale, Mrs. Mollie Douglas, Miss Olive and Miss Jessie of the same place, Homer of San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. Esther Bund of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Guthrie of Oakdale and Mrs. Jemima Howell of Carthage, Mo.; two brothers, James Guy and Nicholas Guy of Columbus, Kansas. Funeral services were held at the home Friday at 10 a.m. and were attended by a large number of friends who gathered to express their sympathy for the bereaved family. The floral tributes were many and beautiful.
