I am researching Benjamin Jones and his family.
A Benjamin Jones was located in Washington Co., IL in the 1818 State Census and in the 1820 Fed Census.
He then was found in Fayette Co., IL in the 1830 and 1840 Fed Census.
I am looking for information about Benjamin and his family before and up to 1820.
Where he came from . What were the names of his family members.
I know about two of his sons, Bowling and Mark.
I don't know his wife's name or any daughter's name.
I think Benjamin Jones was in the Shoal Creek area for at least two years.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I am researching our LIVESAYs branch living in Washington Co. (1830 - 1916) and would appreciate it very much if anybody has information on Leonard LIVESAY and his wife Elizabeth. Leonard, at age 12, shows up in the 1880 census living with his parents John W. LIVESAY and Elizabeth LOGAN SANDERS LIVESAY.

Although Leonard's wife Elizabeth, or "Bessie", turns up in the Jefferson KY census in 1910, where they had re-located with their children, Lorraine, Mary A. and Norman. ... I have no way of determining what her surname was. However, the census did show that she was also born in Illinois though both her parents were born in Tennessee.

If any of these names ring a bell. ...would you be willing to share?

Hello, I am trying to find any information on a family that lived in Washington county in the 1930's.
I have found the McBride family in the 1930 census and they apparently lived in Nashville, IL (Washington Co) at that time. I am not sure how long they had lived there before the census.
I have listed Harry(H), Laura(W), and daughters Faye (I think it is Mabel Faye) and Helen Louise McBride.
I would like to know if you have any information on whether Helen gave birth to a child on or around 11/11/1929 in St. Clair Co, IL.
This child was placed up for adoption at 6 months of age and was given the birthname of Richard Kenneth McBride.
It is my understanding that he was under the guardianship of a Clarence B. Williams for the first 6 months of his life.
I am not sure who Clarence is, whether he was his birthfather or just someone maybe in the family somewhere who took care of him.
I am still researching that.

After he was adopted by the Eberhart family in Edwardsville, IL, his name was changed. I didn't know if you know any of the McBrides that might have information on this birth. I am searching for Helen Louise McBride because the child that she had was my father. I don't know if this is the correct Helen McBride or not but would appreciate any information that you can give me.

I would like to see if my father has any birthfamily left. He is 78 years old and if there are any out there I would like to tell him about them before he dies. I would also like to know for my family tree that I am making for my children and health issues.
Since it has been 78 years I thought this information should be made public.
Someone somewhere has the other copy of my father's birth certificate and his adoption papers.

I hope that you can either verify or discount whether this is the correct Helen or not so I can continue on with my search if it isn't.
Thank you very much for your time.
I can be reached at the email below.

I am researching the Hugh McCaughn (McAughn) family that was living in
Washington Co. IL in 1860.
Hugh McCaughn was a school teacher in the Ashley area.
He was originally from Maryland where he married Francenia Harritt
(originally from Franklin Co. PA) sometime in 1853-1854.
Hugh was 50 years old and his wife, Francenia was 25 years of age,
according to the 1860 Washington Co.census.
In 1860 Hugh and Francenia had 3 children, Henry D, Charles A and Catherine McCaughn.
In the 1870 census, Hugh is still living in the same area,
but appears to be living on his own in a residence hotel.
There is no record of Francenia or the children in 1870 census or thereafter.
There is no record of Hugh after 1870.

Children:

I am researching Millers in Washington Co. IL
My Millers came from Tennesse about 1842, settled in IL.,
then some on to St. Louis.
Alexander Miller was born in TN. about 1820
We do not know the name of his first wife.
1850 Census Records: Washington CO.

Alexander 30 TN. Farmer
John 12 TN.
Joseph 9 TN.
Elizabeth 7 IL.
Mary 4 IL.
Pemelia 2/12 IL.
THERE IS NO WIFE - but a 2 month old baby
which means the wife was alive in 1850.
I checked the 1850 Washington CO. Mortality Schedule.
There is listed a :
Mary MILLER 33, died in April of Dropsy
Frederick MILLER 6, died in April of croup. I believe these to to be mine.
They would have fit into the 1850 census nicely.
Also since the 9 year old was born in TN and the 7 year old in IL.
I'm guessing they came to IL. about 1842.
He marries Jane Ayres in 1852
1860 Wshington Co. Census
Alexander 40 TN. Farmer Jane T. (Ayers) 25 IL. Joseph 19 TN Farmer Sarah E. 10 IL. We don't know if Pemelia and Sarah Elizabeth are the same person or William B. 8 IL. 2 different girls really William T. 5 IL. close together. James W. 2 IL. 1870 Washington Co Census Alexander 51 TN.
Jane 35 IL.
William T. 15 IL.
James W. 12 "
Adam B. 10 "
Charles E. 6 "
Oliver D. 3 "
Alta 6/12
So Alexander's kids look something like this
1. John 1838 TN.
2. Joseph 1841 TN.
3. Elizabeth 1843 IL.
4. Mary 1846 IL.
5. Frederick ? 1844 IL.
6. Pemelia 1850 IL.
Sarah Elizabeth " "
7. William B. 1852 IL.
8. William Thomas 1855 IL.
9. James W. 1858 IL.
10. Adam B. 1860 IL.
11. Charles E. 1864 IL.
12. Oliver D. 1867 IL.
13. Alta 1870 IL.
14. Mary 1872 IL.
15. Eddie 1875 IL.
The 1880 census gave us the last 2.
I would like to hear from anyone that is connected with any
of the Millers on this post. Names that connect to mine are
McGill, Ayers, Cameron, Tate, Earls, Wilson, Hawley, & Pierce.

I have been looking for any record I can find on my
Great Grandfather JOHN E. PRENTICE.
He was married to EMELINE FOSTER (CHARITY EMEMINE OR EMILENE FOSTER)
on 21 Oct. 1856 in Washington County, Illinois.
The daughter of the ASA FOSTER who married MARY LIVELY,
on February 5, 1835.
Both of these took place in Washington County. Illinois.

That is the last record I can find on him in that County.
It seems to me that if John was married in that county there should be
some records on him.

I would like to try to find out where he was born and who his parents were.
I would also like to obtain a copy of his marriage licence,
I found the record once, so I know it's out there somewhere.
I just can't find it again.
however I don't know where to write or what fees I should be prepared
to pay.
I would like to find that record again and also find out
to how I go about obtaining a copy for genealogy purpose.
I do know that the record listed my grandfather Asher Prentice as their son.

His son, [ my Grandfather] ASHER PRENTICE was born in Troy, Ilinois on Feb., 2, 1857.
ASHER's son, my father ELMER ASHER PRENTICE was born in Troy [Jarvis township],
Illinois on Sept., 11, 1891.
My Great Father JOHN had to be in the Area for the birth of his son.
The problem is, I can find no birth record on either my Grandfather, or my Father.
I can find neither a birth record or a death record on my G-Grandfather JOHN.
What makes matters even more confusing is that JOHN's wife EMELINE
died in Washington County on the same daay as her father ASA FOSTER April 12, 1877.

I wonder if there is a source that I have overlooked to find the records I seek.
Which are:
Birth record for ASHER or ELA ASHER PRENTICE.
A birth record for ELMER ASHER PRENTICE.
A birth record for JOHN E. PRENTICE [calculated birth year would be 1835]
A Death record for JOHN

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

I am working on my Scott family in Washington County.
So far I have been able to verify this much by court records.
My Grandmother was Carrie Viola Scott, her father Oliver Otto Scott
was born on May 24, 1878 in Okawville, Illinois.
His father Charles Wesley Scott was born in Okawville.
His father was George F. Scott the primary brick wall on this family.
I have found he married Mary Ann Smith on August 26, 1854 in Washington County.
His estate is also listed in Washington Countyon page 63, but I have no idea the year.
I have that he died while serving in the civil war in 1863, I have found his regiment.
His father was James Scott who married Sarah? I have found much in the line of
census records but as yet can not find George's birth records....if you know of
someone researching this family would you please put them in contact with me.

Does anyone know where Ayers Point is located?

I am looking for any information on an August Snyder,

Would anyone know where Pilot Knob is located?

Sarah J. Snyder and Mary Snyder both were listed with a Karson family and Piper family.
Would anyone happen to know what happened to these two girls?

Has anyone done records on the Presbyterian Church in Oakdale?

I've been trying to locate a marriage license for a John Snyder and Nancy Kirkpatrick
(I've checked the Washington County Courthouse in Nashville, Ill.,

They were married March 27,1870 or March 22,1871?
Nancy was of the Presbyterian faith.

Per the above query -
requesting information on a Heinrich Whilhelm Thoms married to a Wilhelmine Hedemann, and living in Washington County, IL. Did your couple marry in Germany or after they immigrated?

I have long suspected your Wilhelmine Hedemann is closely related to the family listed below, who immigrated from the Oldenburg Germany area in 1834. You indicated that your Wilhelmine immigrated around 1857, which is about the same time a Nicolaus Hedemann also immigrated from Germany to Venedy. Nicolaus, who was born around 1833, later appeared in Venedy church records as a god-father to one of Brunke Hedemann's (listed below) children.

Has your research turned up any additional information on your Wilhelmine? Do you think she may have been related to Nicolaus or the Hedemann family residing in Venedy?

Am looking for information on Nancy Mahala Troutt who married
Calvin Singleton. She was the daughter of John Troutt Jr. and
Annis L. Herrill Troutt from Jefferson County.

Mahala and Calvin were married on May 13, 1876.
Their daughter, Sovenia (Venie) was born Feb. 10, 1877.
Calvin died of lung congestion lasting 36 hours, in November 1878.
I cannot find Mahala or Venie in any of the 1880 census.
Does anyone have any information pertaining to either of them?
I need to know when Mahala died, and why, as well as where she
is buried. I'm guessing she must have died before the 1880 census.
Calvin's brother, Essick Francis Singleton, and his wife,
Dina Moode/Moody/Mode raised Venie in/near Okawville, IL.
E. F. and Dina weren't married until 1884, so that means Venie
and Mahala had to be living someplace! Calvin's death certificate
listed him as married, not widower. Therefore, Mahala must not
have died in childbirth with Venie.

Mahala had siblings named Henry Preston, Lydia E., Pleasant Alfred,
Addison, Malina, Barbara and May Ann "Polly".
If anyone has any information on any of these people,
please, email me at ouizee47@hotmail.com.
Thanks.

Anyone out there researching the Windmoeller / Windmôller surname?

I've just found out that an ancestress's sister and family immigrated
on the same ship, arriving in New Orleans on the "Adler" on 11 Nov
1857. They were Caroline Wilhemline "Charlotte" ROWEKAMP (lots of
variants on this) and Christian Friedrich WINDMOELLER, with children
Wilhelm, Louise, Friedrich, and Carl, of Blasheim or Stockhausen,
Westphalia.

A probable nephew, Carl ROWEKAMP, age 19, was also on the ship. I
haven't been able to track him or the WINDMOELLERs in the census yet,
(probably haven't been sufficiently creative with my spelling) though
I've been told there are living WINDMOELLER descendants.
