William L. Francis died at his home south of Nashville Jan. 13, 1904, at the age of 58 years, of heart disease. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served in the 29th Missouri Inft.

On April 6, 1876, he was married to Elizabeth Adams, who with one daughter, Mrs. Mary Higgs, and a son, Oliver, survived him.
