Christian Menze

Christian Menze, an old citizen of Ashley, who left here several years ago to enter the Illinois Soldiers and Sailors Home in Quincy, died suddenly while seated in a chair on February 21, 1917, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 8 days.

The funeral was held at the Home, being conducted by the G.A.R. Post of Quincy.

Christian Menze was born at Lippe Detmold, Germany, January 18, 1839.
He came to America about the year 1863, married Miss Elizabeth Wendal on March 3, 1883. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three children, Chris Menze now in the employ of the Interurban Railway Co., Miss Emma Menze, who makes her home with her mother at Collinsville and Rev. F. Menze, pastor of the Epworth Methodist Episcopal Church at Belleville.
