Jo House writes :
I checked the Sanborn maps and the house was standing in 1886. From the few maps I have the evolution of the property where Williamson's garage was located started (1886) with a saloon on the corner and a "dwelling" next to it (with the "torn-down house" next to the "dwelling").
The 1906 and the 1929 maps show the "dwelling" as the "West End Hotel" and the saloon was still on the corner.
The 1929 map shows a large building marked "auto sales and service" in the spot where the hotel and saloon had been. It looks like there were some "out buildings" behind the garage since there are areas marked "oil room" and "used parts."
So, by the time 1930 rolled around there were at least three auto "garages" within a block of each other!"
