Maude Cravens, daughter of Mr & Mrs. D. W. Cravens, was born Nov 6, 1889. Died Feb 17, 1906, aged 16 yrs, 3 mos., 11 days. Maude leaves father, mother, brother William who has been in the north part of the state for some time past, little sister Gladys, several relatives, teacher and school which she attended and a host of friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bosley at the Victory church, Sunday Feb 18th in the presence of a very large crowd of friends and relatives. The pall-bearers were Miss Laura Reade and the schoolmates Pearl Dezouche, Alice Reade, Elma Lecroy, Ola Young and Carrie Sims. Maude was most loved by those who knew her best. In school she was an earnest diligent student. In society she was always pleasant, and in her church work she was sincere. She was a faithful member of the General Baptist church at victory and her greatest desire seemed to be to assist others in adopting higher principles of living and to induce them to lead pure, godly lives. It seems hard for us to give her up but as we laid her cold body in the silent tomb we realized more fully than ever that Maude still lives.
