Gash Family Cemetery

Directions: Head East leaving Fairfield, Illinois and go 6 miles on Route 15 turn right on CR 2450 E go 1.4 miles and Gash Cemetery is located in a small grove of trees on your left just before you get to CR 650 N. This cemetery
is at risk of being lost forever.

This cemetery is in very bad shape, I would estimate based on the burying patterns that at least 30-40 other people are buried here. I was able to prod the ground and did find several stones, and after 45 minutes of careful
digging was able to uncover the tombstone of Elvira Copelin. A special thanks to Mr. Gerald Hutchcraft who I flagged down on a country road and took the time to show me the location of Gash & Winland Cemeteries.
