John and Nellie (Richards) Miller

December 31, 1903 - December 31, 1953

The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Miller will be celebrated at an open house Sunday, Jan. 3, in their home. Relatives and friends are invited to call from 2 to 5 p.m.

Nellie Richards and John Miller were married Dec. 31, 1903, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Richards at White S.D. The Rev. Walter Edgar, Methodist minister, permormed the single ring ceremony.

The couple farmed in that vicinity until 1929 when they moved to Erie Community where Miller farmed until retiring and moving to Erie in 1936.

The couple have four daughters, Mrs. Clarence Kellogg, Mrs. Ralph Wessel of East Moline, Mrs. Ira Schaeffer and Mrs. John Heness. A son Floyd passed away at the age of 2 1/2 years. They have eight grandaughters and one grandson, Pvt. Jack Stoudt, who is in training at Fort Ord Calif. They have three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller has one sister, Mrs. Sam Lucas of Spokane WA and two brothers, Frank Richards of Iowa and Vern Richards of Goldfield, Iowa.

Miller has seven sisters, Mrs. Katie Dobers, Erie, Mrs. Frank Meyer and Miss Daisy Miller both of Round Grove; Mrs. Mabel McWethy of Dixon; Mrs. Grace Herlihy, Chicago, Mrs. Pearl Fuller, Erie and Mrs. Zelma Thurston of Crystal Lake and two brothers Earl of Morrison and Joe Miller of Sterling. They are both members of the Methodist church. Mrs. Miller is a member of the Friendly Circle Class of the Methodist Church.
