Isaac Brookfield was born in the State of New York, July 9, 1791. He came and settled in Genesee Grove in July 1837, building a log cabin. After six years he moved to Indiana, but returned in 1858 and settled in Sterling, and worked at his trade as shoemaker until 1874. Since then he was an invalid. He died January 23 1877 at the ripe age of 86.
