William Farrington

William Farrington came to Lyndon from New York in 1836 being induced to emigrate by John Pratt who desired him to break land on a claim in Lyndon township, and to assist in holding the same until Mr. Pratt arrived from the East. He first settled where the Rice farm now is, which he sold to Augustus Rice in 1837.

Mr. Farrington married Miss Emma Brooks, in New York State. The children of this marriage were: Addison, born January 18 1823. Mercy L.. born March 14, 1825; Eunice E., born in 1827; Joseph A:, born January 2, 1829. Mrs. Farrmgton died, and he afterwards married Miss Sarah Teats. Their children were: Jesse T., Martin V. B., Francis M. Addison married Miss Jeanette P. Coburn, March 25, 1849; children Laura R., Mary Stella Bertha E. and Eunice T. Mercy L. married O. W. Gage, and lives in Prophetstown. Eunice E. married Cyrus W. Spaulding, and lives in New York. Joseph A. died in California. Francis married Miss Griffin, and lives in Whiteside county. Jesse T. died in boyhood.
