June 15 - Took train at 9 ½ fr Fenton, fare 60. Arrived at 1 ½. Dined and over night with Rev. Joseph Bightoe. Called on Edgar Florrence. Weather fair.

June 16 - Train to Sterling where Charley met me and after getting some Medicine from Dr. Gordon went home. Weather very warm.

June 17 - Preached at Coleta at 10 ½ AM. Heard Rev. Mr. Carr of Henry Co. Iowa at 4 PM in Christian Church, Where we had met for the purpose of holding a S. School Convention. In the evening we held a union service in M. E. Church. Weather rainy all day.

June 28 - Started home. Allice Gardner went with me. Owing to my horse getting down with cholera only got to Los Frances where I tarried until PM. We got to Coleta at 6.15. Weather fair.

June 29 - In AM hoed my Potatoes. At 1 ½ Charley took me to Galt where I took train for Fenton via Denrock. 28 cts, ½ fare. Over night at Rev. Joe Backtel. Weather very warm.

June 30 - Meeting the Elder at his Q. M. I concluded I could now return as I was not Specially needed. So I took train for Sterling, 30 cts. Dinner 20 cts. Was taken home by Mr. Jacob Wetsel. Weather very warm.

July 4 - Acted as Chaplain on 4th Celebration in Coleta. A good time was had. At 1 PM we buried old Mrs. Roland in Hazel Green Cemetery. Prayer Meeting at night. A lad got his hand blown nearly off at night by a giant firecracker.

July 5 - Wife & I visited at D. V. Mannings in AM. PM I mowed grass for hay on road. Supped at C. Overholsers. Weather fair.

July 6 - Hoe Potatoes. Dined at M. V. Croms. Fixed up around Otter Creek Church in PM. Supped at V. Chaffies. Weather fair but windy. Rain during coming night.

July 7 - Rain this Morning. Our last Q. M. was held today. My salary was nearly all paid up.

July 8 - Love feast at 9 AM. Preaching by Elder at 10 ½. Collection at 11 ½ Sunday Q. M. at 3 PM. At night Elder & I went to Greenwood where he preached. Weather fair.

Whereas the troubles which resulted in the erasing of the names of Bro. J. M. Chitty from Membership in our Conference have been by the brethren concerened satisfactorly adjusted in a Christian like manner among themselves, and Whereas Bro. Chitty agrees to wholly disconnect himself from the circulation of the record-book published by him and upon his report wherein he may have aggrieved any of his brethren he regrets the same and desired a pardon and if any of his brethren have aggrieved him they herein desire his pardon - Therefore be it resolved that Bro. Jan. 3 -In Memoriam. The largest sky Rocket fell that was ever Known in this country.

Jan. 23 -Had Company. Assisted Wife serving. Weather fair but cold. At family worship Wife was unusually blessed in a special petition for the Salvation of the family. Lord help us all.

Feb. 1 - [Repeated entry below.]

Feb. 2 - Our 8th baby was born this morning at 6 o'clock; name Nellie Rebecca. Weather very Stormy. All day at home. (Dr. Rumage assisted with Aunt Barbary Overholser. Weather very Snowy & Stormy.)

Feb. 26 -. Bought Clothes Ringer from S. Fergeson.

Mar. 14 - Sent letters to Rev. Ben Bender

Mar. 21 - Went & visited at Mr. William Conaway whose son George died at 8.20 AM.

Apr. 2 - Prayer Meeting at 10 AM. We closed the Meeting on acct of a partial panic accruing from W. Conaways death from Glanders. [a serious bacterial disease of the respiratory tract and skin; usually infecting horses but may be contracted by humans; usually fatal]. Apr. 14 - We rec'd notice from the Veterinary Surgeon to destroy all hitching Posts at Church house & in Coleta on acct of Glanders propagated at W. Conaways.

June 18 - Finished & hung our Mosquito net.

July 4 - Acted as Chaplain on 4th Celebration in Coleta. A good time was had. At 1 PM we buried old Mrs. Roland in Hazel Green Cemetery. Prayer Meeting at night. A lad got his hand blown nearly off at night by a giant firecracker.

May 17 - At home until evening when Wife & I went to Wm. Deets where I united in Marriage J. B. Fenton and Alice M. Deets. Weather rainy in PM.

Feb. 17 - Attended funeral of Mr. Sam Purghs Child. Rev. Van Swiggen Officiated. Weather fair. Roads icy.

Mar. 14 - Went to Hickory Grove and preached funeral for John Wick aged 90 yrs., I mo. & 14 days. Text: Math. 25. 23. Rev. M. V. Crom assisted. Weather very fair.

Mar. 21 - Went & visited at Mr. William Conaway whose son George died at 8.20 AM. Went home. Weather fair. Mar. 22 - Attended funeral of Geo. H. Conaway aged 17 yrs. & 23 days. Text: 1 Pet. 7. 4, 5, 7, 8. Dined at Wm. Conaway at night.
